Jordan Staal has the offensive numbers, the +/- (+18), and leads the league in ice time during the PK for forwards

Ryan Kesler just recently lost his negative +/-...now he's a 0...thats one reason I think he won't win it. The +/- really hurt him

Kesler has the offensive numbers too lol. He kills penalties, he blocks shots, he has a lot of takeaways and he pretty much does everything. Burrows is a good candidate for Selke too.

He's not flashy. He's not sexy. Hell, he's probably not even the most popular NHL'er in his own house, but Jordan Staal is the guy you want on the ice when the chips are down. He plays a very solid, cream of wheat in a white bowl type of game but you can be assured that if you have a need for a guy to kill penalties, give the top line on the other team fits and then drive to the net for a goal, then Staal is your guy. The only knock against Staal is that he plays less than the other nominees and he is not counted on for offense because of Malkin and Crosby. His most Selke worthy moment? See: every 5 on 3 that the Penguins end up on the PK for.

Staal does everything Kesler does and defensively, Staal is much better. Kesler has more takeaways true, but Staal gets the job done just as well in every aspect.

I'm sorry, Jay McClement has the most SH ice time for forwards. Staal is #2 with 259:49. He's #15 in the league overall...including all of those defenseman...Ryan Kesler is #49 btw with 217:40.

I haven't seen many but I watch all the highlights lol

You obviously haven't seen Jordan Staal...EVER

They were saying he'd be a Selke winner within his first 5 years in the league before he was drafted I read

Highlights don't show jack shat. I see a lot of Penguins but I have my opinion. +/- is an overrated stat.

If you're out there scoring goals, it'll be high, if your team is out there scoring goals, it'll be high, if you're out there playing D, it'll be high, if your team is doing a combination of all these things, it'll be high

Its more of a team based stat
