The Philadelphia Eagles have reached agreement on a blockbuster intra-division trade that will send perennial Pro Bowl quarterback Donovan McNabb to the Washington Redskins, according to multiple sources close to the situation.

The two sides still must finalize language, but McNabb is now headed to Washington. Compensation is not yet known, but it is likely to include Washington's 2010 second-round pick.

The move means the Redskins now have a new starting quarterback and the Eagles have a new one as well in Kevin Kolb. Michael Vick is now in line as the team's backup.

Sources said McNabb's contract, which has one year and $11.2 million left on it, scared off several other teams. McNabb is due a $6.2 million roster bonus on May 5 and is scheduled to become a free agent after the 2010 season.

At the league meetings, head coach Andy Reid said the Eagles were listening to offers for all three quarterbacks, including 11-year veteran McNabb, who quickly said on his Web site that he wanted a quick resolution to the trade conversations.

i just saw this on espnnews.

I'm absolutely shocked -- inter-division trade of McNabb, the Eagles must be retarded.

and if a 2nd rounder is the most the Redskins gave up draft-wise, Shanahan made a huge steal and this team may be a WC favorite now. Depends on what players are involved though.

Im sorry but I dont understand them wanting to trade Mcnabb at all. I hope this kolb experiment backfires on them.

Thank you Eagles for completely taking yourselves out of contention for the 2010 NFC East title. Washington is a tad betternow but they need better RB's because you don't win this divison without a running game.

Wow.... That won't be the same.. Don't think that's the right decision by the Eagles.. Looks like the Eagles will be the bottom feeder in the NFC East.

McNabb strong-armed the Eagles into making this deal by refusing to speak with any other teams interested in a trade. After all the bullsh*t the guy dealt with from the organization and the Philly fans for so many years...dude is going to be out for straight up blood this season.

Stats beg to differ

2009: Cowboys (Barber/Felix Jones/Tashard Choice combine for nearly 2000 rushing yards)
2008: Giants (Best rushing attack in the league with a Jacobs/Ward/Bradshaw platoon)
2007: Cowboys (Julius Jones/Marion Barber combine for 1500 yards)
2006: Eagles (Healthy Westbrook with over 1200 yards) There is an exception to every rule.
2005: Giants (Tiki Barber with nearly 1900 rushing yards)

This divison is not often won by teams without a running game.

I believe that this move also spells the end of the Redskins interest in drafting Jimmy Clausen.

McNabb has only two years left maybe.. You could bring in Clausen and let him sit a couple years.

I wouldn't waste the high pick on something 2-3 years down the road. Clearly the Eagles are trying to win now & there's players available that can make that "win now" impact on the team.

Good news for the Lions fans kind of lol.
Now the Browns likely won't need to trade up for the #2 pick to get Clausen, if that's who they want. Which means I really don't see anyone needing to trade with us. SUH <3

Guess you're right, they could use an offensive lineman. They'll probably take one
