I can say Barry was a good RB, but he never could lead his team into contention, and he wasn't very good as a receiver, either. I was fortunate to watch every one of his playing years, and can say he was a must watch, but not sure if he's the best ever.
Jim Brown is a running back, maybe not a true halfback, but a running back
1. Walter Payton - Retired as all-time leader in rushing, combined net yards. Most current HB try to emulate him
2. Jim Brown - He gained more yards in fewer games and season than any other running back, didn’t miss a game due in injuries.
3. Emmitt Smith - Has the rings, records, and mvp to prove it.
4. Marshall Faulk - At his peak he was so good he was lining up as a receiver. He picked defenses apart and set many records.
5. Eric Dickerson - he led every team he played for to the playoffs
