Malkin is the best in the world unless someone proves otherwise

He's having an off year I'll admit but his skillset is still more valuable than Ovechkin's

Should I throw out last season's stats btw...

Okay...Ovechkin's never had an off year unless you consider his 92 point 46 goal sophomore season a bad year.

What's scary is OV's actually having maybe his best season of his career.

I mean 86 points in 51 games is scary.

Easily his highest +/- and shooting percentage and points per game

I could go as far as saying that Crosby is the best player in the world.

He's still better than Ovechkin, he's improved his hands this year which basically sealed the deal.

Great 1st period.

McQuaid gets his 1st NHL goal. Sturm gets one with 3 seconds left in the third. Rask has been beast so far. Getting gritty and playing hard. Wheeler even dropped the gloves with O'Byrne; though they only got a punch in before Wheeler lost his footing.

I don't understand how they were so almighty and now they're practically a nonfactor. What happened

Murphy's law...what can, will go wrong.

Speaking of, they lost Boychuk for 7-10 days after getting hit in the face with a puck yesterday. Broken orbital.

Crosby is a much better playmaker and he makes his entire team better. Crosby can make plays AND score, unlike Ovechkin. Crosby is a much more efficient shooter and doesn't just take a shot just to do it, unlike Ovechkin. Crosby is a much better leader. Crosby plays a better defensive game. Crosby isn't a dirty player, unlike Ovechkin. Crosby doesn't cherry pick, unlike Ovechkin.

Going off that basis, I have a non related hockey question pm7.

LeBron James is a much better play maker then Kobe Bryant, and FG% says LeBron is a much more efficient scorer. Kobe has had numerous amounts of dirty plays in his career and his leadership abilities are overrated with him publicly asking to be traded and others to be traded. Why is Kobe better?

A) Ovechkin has more assists this season
B) his shooting percentage is 2% higher than Ovechkin's...Ovechkin takes more shots because he's a goal scorer, 15% is still amazing for as many of shots as Ovechkin is taking
C) Crosby's been captain longer....Ovechkin didn't even speak the language when coming into the league
D) How is he better defensively? When it comes to defense, it's split. Because Ovechkin is more physical and isn't afraid to block a shot but Crosby can steal better.
E) Really, dirtyness? LOL, Ovechkin is a physical player. So if you call all physical players dirty and cherry pickers, then fine, just hate on those portion of hockey players

Only reason it's still a debate is because Crosby after the lockout was thought of as the Golden child, the NHL was relying on him to save the game. And he didn't disappoint. No one knew Ovechkin was going to end up saving just as much if not more saving the game. Ovechkin had to work to gain his popularity. People were creaming on Crosby before he even set foot on the ice. There was hype about Ovechkin....but he wasn't supposed to be THIS good. But he's the best player in the game

I'm not measuring playmaking ability by number of assists...Crosby is a playmaker period and a much better one than Ovechkin. You can't predict what he'll do this season because he passes and scores better than anyone in the league.

Crosby just has more natural leadership. Not just because he's a captain. He was a leader as a rookie from what I've read.

Also, look at some of the hits Ovechkin has laid out this year. Alot of them were intentional and the aftermath shows that. He's dirty man. Remember that incident with Jamie Heward last year? Yeah, and he still hasn't come back to hockey after that concussion. It took me til this year to realize that hit on Gonchar in the playoffs last year WAS intentional and he got the job done. Just check out the video, he throws his knee out and lands a hit on Sarge. That knee on knee hit on Tim Gleason from this year looks like he was aiming for his knee. That hit on Briere a couple years back, DIRTY. That hit on Patrick Kaleta, I think, this year was almost the exact same as that. That slew footing of Rich Peverley...come on Maple you can't be so bias and look past just these things...I'm sure there are more I'm forgetting

It seems as whoever is the most popular player is labeled the best. Before Ovechkin started lighting up the highlight reels everyone said Crosby was the best. Ovechkin is a great player but I wouldn't say he's the best by any means.

do you believe in miracles.......YES!![/al michaels]

In all seriousness, it's about damn time. Sturm added another midway through the third to put us up 3-0. Tuukka Rask was amazing in net.

Hopefully they can string 3 or 4 in a row now.
