If you still want to play it conservative and go with a safe performance, why not go with like U2 or Coldplay, or even Green Day.

I mean The Who?, Tom Petty?, The Rolling Stones (the worst one)?, who even performed last year?

I mean seriously they were good in their prime but put some relevant performers on the stage at halftime

The performer really doesn't matter to me. I actually prefer the old classic rock so if anything I would watch these recent performances, but I don't.. Guess I'm part of the minority that doesn't really care or watch the half time show/performance.
