I love Backes as well. He's becoming a great two way player imo. Kinda like Kesler.

this is a lot funnier, meaningful, emotional if you hear me say it but, since you don't, I figured I'd still share....

Dear NHL Referees, and whomever it may concern,

GO FUCK YOURSELVES

That's twice, in as many games, that a MORONIC movement or call has screwed the Bruins in some way. Obviously, this is not taking into account any squandered power plays or scoring opportunities. This is just horrible plays and outcomes, directly resulting from incompetent officials. And the Bruins aren't the only team that have been victim of retarded officiating. I digress..for those uneducated on the manner, I shall inform you now.

1. Monday afternoon: Bruins vs Senators - Ottawa had controlled the entire game up until the third period, leading 4-0. Bruins get a quick one back at the beginning of the third and throw 3 or 4 good shifts together. Momentum is shifting towards the Bruins and they look like they can at least put themselves back in to make a comeback; which isn't anything new considering they'd done it a couple times before against Ottawa this season. About midway through the third, a puck trickles past the blueline into our defensive zone. Dennis Wideman skates back to retrieve the puck but the referee, also skating back, decides that the smart decision here is to jump over the puck in front of Wideman. The result is Jonathan Cheechoo all alone to push it by a diving Tuukka Rask. Squashing any chance of a comeback. After the game, the NHL and referees stand by these actions and insist it was the right decision.

2. Tonight: Bruins vs Blue Jackets - With the game tied 2-2 and about a minute and a half left, there is a bit of a scuffle in front of Steve Mason as Milan Lucic was trying to poke the puck past him but couldn't. As Lucic goes to poke the puck in he is pushed away by a Columbus player, who actually hit him skate on skate, Lucic jerks around, and a Columbus player falls to the ice. The referee, who is standing right next to the scuffle, immediately calls a double minor high stick on Milan Lucic. Columbus manages to score with in 10 seconds of the first powerplay and the final score is 3-2. The problem is, Lucic was innocent. Milan Lucic, replays confirm, had his stick on the ground the entire time. Again, this happens in complete view of the referee. So how, you ask, was the player hit? Maybe, it was the "magic stick theory". Yes, of course. While Lucic was getting hauled around after the whistle, a second, "magic", stick appeared out of nowhere and took out the Columbus player. But wait a second, that doesn't add up. So if it wasn't Lucic and it wasn't the magic stick, who is the guilty culprit of the high stick? Ah, I know who it was. It was the <Censored>ing Columbus player, trying to muscle Lucic away, who had his stick up in the air pointing right at his teammate. But, silly me, you wouldn't know that by standing and looking right at whats going on.

4 very crucial points lost in these two games.

In closing, I hope that, with the upcoming break for the Winter Olympics, that you all enjoy your well-deserved (and I'll point out the sarcasm if I have to) vacation...and come back fully committed to getting your heads out of your asses.

Pretty much the same thing happened to the Leafs earlier this season against Carolina. A player on the Hurricanes got high sticked by another Hurricane and Ian White got a 4 minute penalty for high sticking. The Hurricanes tied the game on the powerplay and the Leafs lost in overtime.
