The NBA has decided to suspend Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas indefinitely.

Commissioner David Stern issued the following statement Wednesday:

"The possession of firearms by an NBA player in an NBA arena is a matter of the utmost concern to us. I initially thought it prudent to refrain from taking immediate action because of the pendency of a criminal investigation involving the office of the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia and the Metropolitan Police Department, and the consideration of this matter by a grand jury sitting in the District of Columbia. For the same reason, I directed the Wizards to refrain from taking any action. Wizards personnel continue to be interviewed by law enforcement authorities, some are scheduled for appearance before the grand jury and the investigation is proceeding with the intensity that one would expect for such a serious incident.

"Although it is clear that the actions of Mr. Arenas will ultimately result in a substantial suspension, and perhaps worse, his ongoing conduct has led me to conclude that he is not currently fit to take the court in an NBA game. Accordingly, I am suspending Mr. Arenas indefinitely, without pay, effective immediately pending the completion of the investigation by the NBA."

He's an idiot, anyone else see the picture of him pointing his fingers like guns during their last game? He's treating this like a joke, when he is the joke

I think Arenas should be released because he has pretty much voided his contract and the Wizards wouldnt havent to pay any of his huge contract. All he is gonna do is cause problems for the NBA and for his family and team. So the best thing for him right now is this suspense and I think it would do him better if he got released from the Wizards.

Why would he be released? He's a dumbass but it would be a dumber move for the Wizards to release him. He's the best player on their team.

Actually its the smartest move they can make. Arenas is one of the most overpaid players in the league and they should do anything they can to get out of his contract.

Meh. It's true but I think he's too good of a player to be released.

Arenas is such a joke. He doesn't deserve to be in the NBA imo. Not even the D League lol.

Some of you guys are taking this out of hand. He's not a <Censored>ty player. He's still putting up 23 and 7 a night this season. What he did was stupid though and deserves the suspension. But he shouldn't be released and never have a job again.

yes!
tell em Maple

and he wont get the contract voided. everything will be fine.
JA Adande mentioned how it will be very hard for them to void the contract after guys like Sprewell choking his coach and Artest going in the stands didnt have theirs voided

The Wizards suck, and need to blow up there team, shed salary and rebuild. Arenas has already shown you can't win anything with him as the star player. His contract is huge and he'll get signed if he gets his contract voided which the Wizards should try to do..

I don't know. I think they should try and trade him. Then if there are no takers, either give him at least one more chance or let him go. I still don't think he's gonna be released.
