Vladdy's too good for the AHL tho lol

Really, though, he posted 4-6-10 in 6 games for Providence this year before being called up

my family just got Leafs TV, so we've been watching some games from the 50's and I watched a leafs/flyers playoff game from 03

man were the leafs so much better in 03 then they are now

I remember that series like it was yesterday though, ever since I've hated the flyers

WASHINGTON (AP)—Alex Ovechkin(notes) has been selected as the Washington Capitals’ team captain.

Ovechkin took the ice for Tuesday’s home game against Montreal wearing the captain’s “C” on his sweater. He was chosen by Capitals vice president George McPhee and coach Bruce Boudreau, who informed the team of their decision Tuesday morning, according to a team release.

The 24-year-old Ovechkin becomes the 14th captain in team history and is Washington’s first European-born captain. He has served as one of the Capitals’ alternate captains since his second NHL season, and replaces Chris Clark(notes), who was traded to Columbus on Dec. 28.

Ovechkin, the two-time defending Hart Trophy winner as the NHL’s most valuable player, leads the Capitals with 26 goals and 50 points entering Tuesday. The Moscow native becomes the sixth Russian-born player to captain an NHL club and he and Atlanta’s Ilya Kovalchuk(notes) are the only active Russians to serve as team captains.

When Ovechkin took the ice for pregame warmups, there was no outward sign of the captaincy, other than the “C” that had replaced an “A” on his jersey. Ovechkin assumed his regular position along the far boards for stretching exercises and an announcement displayed on the scoreboard about his new role drew polite applause.

IDK where it was in this thread but I was talking about how Ovechkin is the next captain once Clark is gone...

Don't question me

Still a damn good leader but will lose his captaincy to Ovechkin in the near future
November 25

Thats not a long time away. Thats what I meant

Even a guy like Ovechkin wouldn't say "I should be captain"

He's been the temp captain a couple of games, he knows he's gonna get the permanent C in the future
November 25

Search Ovechkin in this thread...

Be thankful he isn't out 4-6 weeks

But Luca Caputi scored a goal last night. His 2nd call up, 2nd career goal coming after a call up. Last time it was against the Habs on his first shift, first shot <3. Last Pen to do that was Lemieux
