I think we should've expected this before the game even started. Seeing that both teams are such defensive teams.
Yeah true but I thought I'd see more excitement than a fight...

Good game though. Now its time to plan the next one. Can't help but think it should be the Caps/Rangers at Yankees Stadium...but I think thy should wait til 2012 on that and get 2 western conference teams going at it.

CALGARY - The manager of an upscale Calgary restaurant is furious, claiming that Edmonton Oilers players refused to cover the full cost of a nearly $17,000 tab during a New Year's Eve night out for team members.

Maurizio Terrigno of Osteria de Medici, the restaurant where former U.S. president George W. Bush dined when he was in Calgary last year, said the team and staff owed $16,796.39 but wanted a break on the bill and paid only $12,385.45.

Terrigno said about half of the bill was for alcohol totalling $8,248, including dozens of shots of tequila and bottles of expensive wine and $1,000 champagne.

"These guys came in, they enjoyed our hospitality and when the bill came ... they went ballistic to the point where they started threatening, denigrating my staff, saying, `We're the Edmonton Oilers, we expect a 50 per cent discount,' " said Terrigno.

Terrigno said 45 people ordered off the menu and their total bill came up to $14,234.23, including $677.98 for GST, but excluding the usual 18 per cent tip for a large group.

The Oilers had lost by a score of 2-1 earlier in the night against the Calgary Flames.

Oilers spokesman Allan Watt said the restaurant was recommended by some Calgary friends of the players and they had a prearranged meal and menu.

"They received the bill which they felt was outrageous," said Watt.

"They inquired about it and they were unhappy about it and were unhappy with some of the charges. The restaurant adjusted it by $7,000."

Watt said the players paid the adjusted bill and added a $1,900 tip and left the restaurant.

Terrigno said the group, which included team captain Ethan Moreau, attempted to negotiate a discount on the bill.

He said the players argued they should pay by the bottle for dozens of shooters purchased during the bash, but the restaurant charged them for each one individually.

The restaurant tried to charge for a bottle of an imported expensive brandy after one of the players took a swig straight from it.

"They refused to pay for the whole bottle because they didn't consume the whole bottle," said Terrigno.

He said there's no way the restaurant will serve other clients from the same bottle.

Terrigno said at one point he threatened to phone police.

"It's the first time during the 37 years of business have I ever experienced something like this," he said. "What's more upsetting is we know who they are."

Terrigno said because he was infuriated by what happened he plans on donating the money the players paid the restaurant to charity.

Wings looked good against Colorado, Filppula is looking good, and we are supposed to get Cleary, Kronwall, Williams, and Zetterberg back sometime this month. Late Christmas present perhaps?

Because he's a winner...or did you forget. He brings leadership, experience, and can play on your team's 4th line

If it's gonna cut into Sobotka or Bitz's playing time then I don want to see him. Besides, both Recchi and Wideman have won as well.

Thats true. But he's been keeping in shape and could be a useful guy for using every now and then

after watching the Bruins play today, he probably wants Satan to spark the offense

unfortunately Satan is not the guy to do that

I fell victim to that thought last season

The Boston Bruins have added some forward depth with the signing of 35-year old forward Miroslav Satan.

Satan, who played with the Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins last season, has signed a deal for the remainder of the season. The deal includes a no movement clause.

In 65-games played with the Penguins last season, Satan recorded 17 goals and 19 assists.

Satan, who was recently named to the Slovakian Olympic men's hockey team, has recorded 354 goals and 367 assists in 1012 career NHL games.

ugh...I hope they send Bitzy down to Providence so I can see him play. Only then will I be okay with this move.

imo Boston should move Bitz up to the 3rd or 2nd line, because I remember when I watched him in the playoffs and they would dump it in the corner and Bitz would get the puck and protect it with his big body and would get it to the front of the net while a player like Savard or Bergeron would put it in

I noticed during the winter classic Bitz had no one to get the puck too

While true, they're not gonna have a spot for hime when Lucic gets back anyway. Plus, I think they need to play Sobotka and play him at center instead of wing.

I think he could be sent back down because he'd benefit so much more that way. He deserves a spot on that roster though
