This is a discussion we've been having on another forum, but an all-Eagles fans forum. So, who do you think will make the PB from your team this year or who do you think deserves it?
So far, for the Eagles my choices would be:
QB Donovan McNabb - Definitely has a good chance of making it this year. Although he's missed games already, he's still putting up good numbers and has shown he's still a stud. He's throwing to one of the best receiving attacks he has ever thrown to in his career so i expect big numbers from him in 09, hopefully taking him to Miami for the PB.
WR DeSean Jackson - He's got a decent chance of making it, but is up against stiff opposition to play WR. He's against: CalJ, Greg Jennings, Fitz, Marques Colston, Roddy White etc.. so it'll be a massive achievement if he makes it. Do i think he'll make it as a WR? No, maybe next year. I think he could be at the PB as a PR though, he's one of the best in the NFL for that duty.
TE Brent Celek - He's really transformed this year into a quality TE. He's putting up very good numbers that are PB-worthy. His blocking has improved alot and he's chipping in with regular TD's. My main concern though is will he be overlooked by the big names; Witten, Gonzo, Cooley etc..
LT Jason Peters - I'd say he is nailed on for a PB appearance. There isn't many LT's in the NFC as good as Peters and he's been consistent as hell so far. He's really improved our Defense since his arrival and long may it continue.
DE Trent Cole - Another one nailed on for a PB appearance on current form. This guy can be added to the 'Players who don't get the recognition they deserve' thread. He's been our best defensive player by quite a bit this year, even better than Peters. He is absolutely dominant on that Defensive Line. Again, my only worry is he's up against competition from the likes of: Peppers, Tuck, Umenyiora, Allen, Abraham etc.. I'd say he's made the Top 5 DL men so far.
CB Asante Samuel - He's got to go to Miami, without a doubt. He's the playmaker in our Defensive side. He's always popular in PB voting, and i'm pretty sure he'll be there this year. His competition is good again though: Asomugha, Webster, Woodson, Harris etc..
