Yeah, I hope nothing but the best for the Lions and Stafford. I hope he does good and becomes one of the elite QB's in the league with time. Detroit needs a good QB.
Hope that he doesn't turn like Joey Harrington, lol.. :headsmack:

Very excited to see him on the field, I wish he won't choke..

If he directly emulated Harrington he'd finish with; 12 TD's, 16 INT's, 59.9 RAT, 50.1 COMP%, and 2294 yards; nevertheless, the Lions will be set to win three games as did Harrington.

Lol, Harrington sucked and still sucks.. can't even be the 2nd QB with Saints lol.

Lions can't be as bad as last year.. they will win 4 games, I think.. if they're really lucky.

The 'Aints still have Mark Brunell right?

I'm not doubting the fact that he was just awful.

Nevertheless, y'all SHOULD win four-to-five games this season.

Detroit Free-Press - Daunte Culpepper is no doubt disappointed by Detroit's decision to name rookie Matt Stafford their starting quarterback.

Lions coach Jim Schwartz claims that Culpepper is back to the top of his game, perhaps trying to inflate his value.

"I want to say this: Daunte Culpepper is back," Schwartz told the Detroit Free-Press. "There's no doubt in my mind -- I don't think there's any doubt around the league. He's gonna be back as a starting quarterback at some time in this league."

When asked if the Lions would consider trading Culpepper, who is scheduled to make $4 million in salary and bonus money, Schwartz deflected rumors, saying:

"We're very happy with where we are quarterback-wise. I think (quarterback) is going to be a strength on our team, and I don't think we're in a position of getting rid of good players."

I really don't like this decision. I really want them to start Culpepper. No need to rush him out there and get Harrington 2.0.

We can think what we want but were obviously not the head coach so our input means nothing. Hopefully that doesn't happen with Stafford - We'll find out soon enough.

That's exactly what I was thinking, but I hope he does at least decent though.

I don't think Matt will be a Joey 2.0.
I don't think playing for Detroit ruined him that much, he had solid receivers here, and I believe he was one of least sacked guys in the league while he played here, but I'm not 100% sure about that.

It's just the fact Harrington was never confident while playing here, he didn't have the starting QB swag you need. But I see that in Stafford.

It would be very sad if Detroit get that Joey 2.0 ..

But like somebody said, his group of receivers is strong ;

C.Johnson, B.Johnson, D.Northcutt, very respectable group :D

But getting hit hard in your first game could ruin the swagger. He needs some time on the sidelines studying how the game works.

I wasn`t all that fond of the decision at first, but now that I think about it, and after listening to what was said on NFL Live about it, I think it was Merril Hodge who said it, but someone said something about it makes sense because they have a new logo, new coach, new everything. I have a good feeling that he wont be a Joey 2.0 though. I`m exciting to see him on the field. Earlier than I expected, but still excited.
