Courtney Lee is determined to become the kind of player the Orlando Magic will regret trading away to the New Jersey Nets.
"I'm going to be a man on a mission," Lee said Thursday afternoon after a training session at the IMG Academy. "I just hope they'll be happy for me when I grow into the player that they wish they had. I'd like them to one day say 'I wish we would have kept him.'"

Orlando dealt Lee in a package that included Vince Carter.

"I'd like to be Dwight Howard's teammate again -- in the All-Star game," Lee said. "They [Magic] have a history of trading good players [Ben Wallace, Tracy McGrady, Corey Maggette, Mike Miller] who did well afterward. I hope that's me. My goal will be to go out and dominate every game, but especially those games [when I play the Magic]. I'll be jacked up for sure."

Lee had high hopes for his future with the Magic.

"The trade shocked me. After the Finals, Dwight and I were talking about things we had to do to get back and win a championship together. He joked about us being the next Shaq and Penny [Hardaway] with the Magic," he said. "I know it's a business, and trades happen, but it's not something you forget, even when you look forward like I am."
I think he will become a player the Magic regret trading, many people think he's underrated, I agree, he did a nice job filling the holes for Nelson's injury.

I like Courtney Lee. Love him even more now that he got traded away from one of my least favorite teams.

I'd love to see him beast in New Jersey, I think he has a bright future ahead of him. Not sure an All-Star caliber player, but he will be a very solid starter in my opinion.

Its understandable he's mad, but he needs to let it go, he's a Net now and he's obviously is geared more toward pay back then becoming a great player for the Nets, someone from the front office needs to tell him shut up about it and move on.

Won't be a star, but he will definitely be a solid player on any team.

Lol Courtney Lee doesn't have all-star potential but Rodney Stuckey does?

I think Courtney Lee's a good player, I'm still mad at him for missing a layup that pretty much cost us a chance at winning the championship, but he'll be solid. Especially for New Jersey because they're terrible.

Don't forget us letting go of Shaq and McGrady.

I was really upset to see this happen, let's face it, Carter isn't what he was, and I doubt his "veteran" leadership.

They have Lewis for that.

I can't believe we got rid of this guy...

They got rid of Shaq and McGrady once they were established stars. Courtney Lee isn't even close to stardom yet. I see where you're going with that statement though, but I think it was a good move for the Magic.

I love this kid. I think he has the potential to become a great player in the league if he's used right.
