Detroit Pistons President of Basketball Operations Joe Dumars announced today that the club has signed free agent guard Ben Gordon and free agent forward Charlie Villanueva to multi-year contracts. Per team policy, terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

“We are excited to add two talented players in Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva,” said Dumars. “Ben is a big-time scorer who will play a prominent role for our team as we move forward. Charlie is a versatile big man who can play in the post and score from the perimeter as well. We feel both these players will be key pieces to our roster next season.”
Supposedly there was a press conference today to announce it? But nowhere did it say they would have one.

What the hell I want to see the names on the back, not the numbers.

I read this article. Here is what Gordon said when asked about if he and Rip can co-exist.
"I think we can play together. I have no problem handling the basketball, creating plays for my teammates. That's a part of my game people haven't seen. I've pretty much been at the two-guard full time."
Which kind of sounds like he wants to play the point here?

Also, this is an interesting read about Charlie.
Villanueva played at least 30 minutes in 29 games last season. His averages in those 29 games: 23.1 points, 9.0 rebounds, 36 minutes. By comparison, Chris Bosh averaged 27.7 points, 10 rebounds in 38 minutes. The rebound numbers especially impressed me, because when his team has the ball, Villanueva spends a lot of time on the perimeter, and it is hard to rebound from there.

And no, I’m not saying Villanueva is as good as Bosh. I am just saying that maybe Villanueva is better than people realize. Effort is tough to judge in sports, and it is especially difficult because most people think they can judge it.

Damn those are nice stats for CV. If he starts here and gets those minutes he will be huge for us.

I did say Charlie will improve the most this season. He's going to be a really great pickup IMO.

the first time i looked at the pics, BG looked like a Piston.
then i looked again, now it looks out of place to me.

now Charlie on the other hand looks like a Piston for sure.
like Rip said, almost like he was born to wear that jersey

I think they both look like they were born to wear it to be honest.

Strong guards always look good in Detroit uniforms.

Billups, Stuckey, Bynum, and now Gordon.

Bynum is really a nobody, good story but come on if we had a better backup he wouldn't be here this season. He's a scoring guard and he's only 5'10. I love his hops though ;)
