Doubt Portland trades Rudy. They needed that vet to go along with the young guns this team has.

Hedo Turkoglu has backed out of his commitment with the Trail Blazers and could sign with the Raptors, according to Yahoo! Sports.

Contrary to an earlier report, Hedo Turkoglu has rejected the Blazers' offer and ended talks with the team.

ESPN reported that the free-agent forward and Portland had reached an agreement on a contract worth roughly $50 million over five years.

It was later reported that no deal was in place and the two sides had broken off negotiations.
TWIST!!!

Where does Marion go now?

They said the new deal with Toronto is 5yrs/56mil

6 million more was the deciding factor

Free agent Hedo Turkoglu(notes) has backed out of his commitment to the Portland Trail Blazers and could be signing with the Toronto Raptors, a source close to the talks told Yahoo! Sports on Friday night.

Turkoglu had agreed on a five-year, $50 million deal with the Blazers, but changed his mind and could be headed for a five-year, $56 million deal with the Raptors. Toronto would have to renounce three free agents – Shawn Marion(notes), Carlos Delfino(notes) and Anthony Parker(notes) – to create the cap space for Turkoglu.

Apparently, the Blazers are already busy exploring other free-agent options for the $9 million in salary-cap space.

Five years ago, Turkoglu was close to signing with the Phoenix Suns that now-Toronto GM Bryan Colangelo was running, but changed his mind and went to the Orlando Magic.

That certainly sucks for the Blazers. Wouldn't doubt if they took a look at Marion.

Wow, how greedy. He had a chance to be a main player in what could be the leagues best team in the next 3 or 4 years..

Yeah he'll regret that decision, Toronto wont do anything significant this year and could be even worse since it looks like Bosh will leave next year.

Maybe the 6mil and the option to be a teams #1 option is that important.

I think we just underachieved a lot last year, we are a playoff team.

Keep telling your self that, though Hedo will help. But still you are just one and done at best.

I agree at 1 and done if you mean 1st round and we're done. This is not a bad team though, can actually be a 5th, 6th spot team imo.

Orlando still wants to talk with Sheed..
And I think Orlando needs to try and get Marion for a 3 year MLE type deal, he could fit nicely at PF.

They had pretty much the same roster they had in 07-08 and they were what, the 6th seed? The only real difference was the O'Neal for Ford trade, and then of course they shook up their roster after that point. I don't think this is a bad team; they have some talented pieces and with playing in the Eastern Conference, you don't have to be good to make the playoffs.

And I wouldn't want that... I like the lineup we're looking at now: Nelson, Carter, Pietrus, Lewis, Howard. Our biggest focus needs to be on getting a back-up big-man like Brandon Bass or re-sign Gortat.

Not with that lack of defense that team has, you guys finished 4th in the division last year for a reason and it wasn't underachieving.

How was it not underachieving, we finished 6th the year before with the same team and added O'neal. We also won the division the year before that...

Off the top of my head:

06-07: Won division but lost to the Nets in the 1st round.
07-08: Average team that took another 1st round exit.
08-09: Fired a former COTY and not being able to have O'Neal and Bosh co-exist, also didn't help that most of the team can't play a lick of D.

Weren't we underachieving with the COTY? I believe we were even though I disagree with the firing but we went on like a 7-8 game win streak near the end of the season. We made the playoffs the year before, than finished 14th the next year with the same team with added talent. That is under achieving.
