DETROIT (AP)—A person with the knowledge of the negotiations says the Detroit Pistons have agreed in principle to contracts with free agents Ben Gordon(notes) and Charlie Villanueva(notes).

The person spoke to The Associated Press on Wednesday night on the condition of anonymity because NBA rules prohibit teams from announcing free agent signings until next week.

Gordon, the third pick in the 2004 draft by the Chicago Bulls, agreed to a 5-year deal for at least $50 million.

Villanueva, the seventh overall pick by Toronto in 2006 who has played all three of his NBA season with the Milwaukee Bucks, also agreed to a five-year deal. His contract is worth at least $35 million.
Kind of a lot for BG, but Detroit had to do it.
Looks like a stretch for Villanueva as well, but that's not absurd

11 million a year for 5 years for an undersized 2 guard? And I thought the JET deal was bad lol

Piston fans will be happy though i bet

Ben will be in his prime almost the whole time he's here, he could eaisly put up 22-26 point a game for us over the time of this contract. But we need to move Hamilton ASAP. If we sign Charlie we would be sooooo weak up front, and we were weak enough last season.

I'm not that happy though, I want to see RIp moved before I sau this was a good/great move. Right now this is ok/decent at best.

He's our only scorer and will be our only scorer, that sounds really bad thinking about it. Damn this could be a really bad move by Joe :(

Why are you just assuming that every big star is leaving? I don't know if you haven't been following the NBA long enough to realize big stars most of the time don't just up and leave the teams they are with for a while.

To add to that, Wade was quoted in a newspaper saying that Ben should STAY in Chicago..
If he was going to leave for Miami, why would he say that?

I also think this means Artest is either staying in Houston or going to Cleveland for their MLE

Like I said, if we have a deal to move Rip for a rebounding Center I'm ok with this. The firing of Curry makes this offseason decent. Still mad we will be a mediocre first round exit team if that :(

The pistons are going to be real interesting next year. Ben isnt gonna be a 26 ppg scorer like mexi said but he could be a nice player and he is clutch. He is kind of a chucker though. I just have a hard time offering a 5'11 2 guard not named iverson that type of money.
