Seattle Seahawks Resign Leroy Hill

SEATTLE -- The Seattle Seahawks and starting outside linebacker Leroy Hill have reached agreement on six-year contract worth a guaranteed $15.5 million.

The deal could potentially be worth $38 million.

All the pieces are falling into place for that super bowl title baby. Mark my words right now, Seahawks are your 2009 Super Bowl Champions. Lock it up.

Its funny how one injury plagued season automatically turns a constant playoff team and SB threat into crap.

So we get to start fresh on the health this year. And we fill every single need (except RB, but that isnt a huge need).

WR Needs = TJ Houshmanzadeh, going to be amazing in our short passing attack since he is a possession guy. Drafted Deon Butler, going to add a guy who can lengthen the attack as a deep threat and also a good return man.

OL Needs = Drafted Max Unger who can start or C or G or filter in if someone gets injured. Dude had 1st round talent, but not being a natural tackle obviously made him drop and Seahawks jumped up to grab him.

DL Needs = Signed Colin Cole, he may not have a big name but dude is a good run stuffer. He got a lot of tackles for a DT in a backup role and he added much much much needed size to our undersized line. Traded for Cory Redding. Was the Lions best defensive player, which may not sound like much, but he is a great player and very versatile. He will play DE in running downs and DT in passing downs. He will provide both run support AND added pass rush.

LB Needs = We didnt really have a LB need even after trading Peterson, who wouldnt take a pay cut and his production was dropping. But we sitll add the top LB and top overall talent in the draft in Curry. Dude is going to be a monster. We got Hill back who is a top flight pass rusher but got moved to a pass coverage LB role when peterson came to town.

CB Needs = We brought back good ole' Ken Lucas. Kenny is a top guy to have as a #2 corner and he should really take pressure off Trufant to dominate and also move Wilson-Jennings down the DC and they can play nickel/dime where they would be better used. Some say Kenny is diminishing his man-to-man coverage skills, but Seattle is switching to the Tampa 2 defense which is a bunch of zone coverage schemes so he should only excel.

S Needs = Only spot we didnt fill, but it isnt a giant need. Grant is solid, but Russel is a weak spot and I wish we could of gotten someone to replace him, but he should be fine with not having to help our #2 guy on almost every down.

Add ALLLL of that to our exisiting talent, we are easily a playoff team and I can confidently say we are going to the Super Bowl as long as Hasselbeck isnt out for 8 games again (easier said then done for him though).

Hasselback is getting up there in age, and is beginning his downfall, the running game is terrible, and the secondary is suspect. They might make the playoffs, but I will be surprised if they get out of Wildcard weekend.

Hasslebeck is up there in age but I dont think he is starting his downfall. He was hurt basically all last year and I say all of it because when he did play, he was playing through the injury. As long as he is healthy he is a top QB in the league.

The running game had new faces last year and now JJ-Duckett have a year in the system, JJ was also injured part of last year as well. Not too mention we were using 2nd and 3rd string OLineman at different spots all season long, of course the run game would struggle.

Ernie Sims could be the best player, but Sims didnt get a single turnover and only had 1 sack although he had 116 tackles. Still he needs to make more of an impact then tackling the RB after they already gain 4-5 yards. And Redding is a natural DE, but was forced to move to DT so his numbers were down.
