First of all, I don't hate New York... I just don't see how people can knock on Crabtree for being in a Conference when Nicks' conference was worse.
Im just saying, Nicks numbers were just as impressive as Crabtree's with a way worse QB.

Crabtree's stats are more impressive. Nicks did have more yards in 2008, but Crabtree has 7 more touchdown catches, and Crabtree had a amazing 97 receptions. But his Sophomore numbers don't even come close to his freshman numbers, which are insane. 134 receptions, 1,962 yards, and 22 touchdowns.

Also don't forget that Crabtree got hurt during the beginning of the Baylor game, missing over half of that game, and sparing playing during the bowl game.

Plus he's already had experience in an NFL type offense at UNC, and if Im right, Texas Tech runs a spread offense.

Director of college scouting Marc Ross described Nicks as "polished" and suggested he could contribute immediately.

"That was one of the things that was most intriguing was we felt he was 'NFL-ready,'" Ross said. "He played in a pro-style offense, he lined up in various different spots, he helped the other receivers get lined up and just the way he plays the game he has a savvy feel for getting open. ... We thought his style would easily transfer to our level, whereas some of the other guys played in spread offenses or the 'Wildcat.'"

Nicks might have a better Rookie season, but the question is career.

I still think he will have the better career, he'll get PT from the beginning and only get better as the games go by and develop that timing QB's and WR's need.

Its set in stone that Eli will be his QB, as for Crabtree the 49ers dont know who they want to be their QB, thats just going to prolong his development.

Completely Un-Biased, us Giants got a real steal. Crabtree is treated like god, when he's not even Adam. Heyward-Bey is fast, but he truly sucks, his speed is nothing in the NFL compared to some of the Corners and Safeties that'll kill him. He's not strong to tell the truth. He'll get destroyed on the field, poor old Oakland fans. Jeremy Maclin, he'll be the next DeSean Jackson in the same state on the same team. I'm gonna set my week counter to see how many NFL games it takes him to throw a Touchdown a way by heaving the ball behind him at the 1 yard line which should be a fumble. Kenny Who?

Nicks is no Plaxico Burress & won't be anytime soon...so forget all this "replacement for Burress" talk.

Plaxico Burress at 6'5" not only made him a great 3rd down guy to throw to but a nasty red zone threat. Burress also weighs in at 235, meaning he can match up with physical DB's and be a very effective target inside a Cover 2 D.

Nicks at 6'1" and 215...I am sorry, won't be nearly as effective. This is why I said Nicks is a good #2 option, definitely not a #1. I just think Giants fans are over excited b/c the team drafted a WR that most have actually heard of, from a school that everyone has heard of.

Crabtree will be a top 15 WR in the NFL, Nicks will be an above average, reliable, consistent receiver with 50-60 catches a year

I think Maclin has the potential to be the best.

Him and Desean will combine for like 200 catches in that spread offense lol

AE, nobody said anything about him being Plax's replacement, he has already said he's there to be himself.

But like I said the WR can only be great if he has a QB....who's gonna be Crabtree's QB?

Im going with Nicks still, partially because I'm a Giants fan but mostly I like his physicality and measurement, which will work well in NYs offense.

Lots of Giants fans wanted Boldin, well Nicks is almost a replica of Boldin. Tough, not too fast, tall, can get up there, and has great hands. If he caught every pass thrown to him up in the Meadowlands, in that wind, and probably had to make some tall, falling back grabs, then I'm confident he will perform.

I dont want him to be a replacement, I'd rather see him start as a #2. But hes got great hands and great potential, so I really like the chances with him.

Eli likes to throw it high, and if he can come down with those grabs I think he will be great in a Giants uni.

Don't call me on being a Giants fan for my pick. You all know I was one of the big pushers for Anquan or Braylon to be traded to NY for a long time, and when they didnt trade on draft day I was upset, but I've come around.

im mainly excited because we actually got a receiver when we needed one and we are confident in his ability to come in and make some great plays, to re-set this offense.

GMF, Nicks is no Anquan Boldin. 6'1 is not tall & as far as confidence is concerned, I am sure Ryan Leaf was confident at one point in time.

But as soon as this pick was made it was said..."Looks like the Giants are going for their Plaxico Burress replacement."

Crabtree is just a better athlete and isn't the one playing in an offense that revolves around "Earth, Wind, and Fire" on the ground.

6'1" is tall compared to our other receivers....
Actually Derek Hagan & Dominik Hixon are 6'2, David Tyree is 6'. Manningham & Moss are the two standing at 5'11. The Giants tallest receiver, standing at 6'6, a guy by the name of Micah Rucker.

Crabtree, but the best rookie season will go to Brian Robiskie, who isn't even up there

I was going to mention Robiskie but I didn't want to come off as a homer lol. Best hands from this draft, best route running ability, ran the 40 faster then Nicks, and knows more about the game of football then any WR in the draft probably because of his father. Only reason he wasn't picked higher is because Pryor started at QB for the Buckeyes.
