The San Antonio Spurs today announced that guard Manu Ginobili will miss the remainder of the 2008-09 regular season as well as the 2009 NBA Playoffs. Ginobili felt stiffness in his lower right leg during the Spurs-Cavaliers game in Cleveland on Sunday afternoon. Following the game he returned to San Antonio. Earlier today, in San Antonio, he underwent a CT scan and an MRI. The examinations showed an increased marrow edema and a stress fracture in his right distal fibula. No timeline has been determined for Ginobili’s return to the court.

oh no
cant say I feel that bad for them. Their fans are ass holes. you should have seen them when AB went down. SMH. Besides, I know what its like to have one of your main players go down for the season >.<
hopefully we jump on this and get to the Finals again. hopefully

but with all that said, i hate to injuries especially to dudes like Manu who are just great players. I actually really like Manu. this does suck, but oh well

Losing Manu is much bigger then losing Bynum since Manu is probably a top 20 player in the league.

doesnt matter
both are their teams 3rd leading scorer and are each others teams x-factor to the championship. We both cant win without them

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The San Antonio Spurs are adjusting to life without Manu Ginobili for the playoffs.

The Spurs got a dose of false hope when he made a brief late-season return from an ankle injury. But San Antonio got the bad news Monday that Ginobili will miss the rest of the season after tests showed a stress fracture in the ankle.

Now, coach Gregg Popovich says the Spurs must adjust their roles again and stay positive heading into the playoffs.

"I look at it as a challenge right now for our team. It's about attitude," Popovich said Tuesday after San Antonio's shootaround before a game at Oklahoma City. "We can do the best possible job we can of continuing to believe in each other and put out the effort that's required to win basketball games or we can feel sorry for ourselves and say, 'Well, gosh, without Manu it's going to be really difficult to reach our goals.'

"That's not how the team is built, I don't think, character-wise," he said.

Popovich said Roger Mason Jr. would again take over Ginobili's starting role beginning with Tuesday night's game at Oklahoma City.
