Doesn’t Anybody Want To Take In Terrell Owens?
http://www.sportsbybrooks.com/doesnt-anybo...ell-owens-22661

As Tuffy informed us in this morning’s Speed Read, the Dallas Cowboys told Terrell Owens to vamoose from Valley Ranch. Yes, its unfortunate that T.O. now joins millions of other Americans out of work in these harsh economic times. But look on the bright side - it’s a terrific opportunity for T.O. to start anew, and besides, what NFL team wouldn’t want such a talented receiver on their roster?

It turns out a lot of teams don’t.

PRO FOOTBALL TALK has been keeping running tabs across the league on which franchises have officially said they’re not interested in Terrell’s services. Here’s the No Owens list so far:

Atlanta, Minnesota, Philadelphia, Dallas, Washington, Baltimore, San Francisco, New York Giants, Miami, Cleveland, New York Jets, Tennessee, St. Louis, San Diego, New Orleans, Houston, and Jacksonville

Let’s see - that’s 17 down, 15 to go.

*updated. PFT added three more teams since I read this an hour ago.

"Ohhhhhhhh, Cana-DUH" He's going to end up being an Eskimo! Onto the CFL! They have popcorn in Edmonton, don't they?

When I saw this list, I was freaking out for NFC saying "Please let Detroit be on there." and thankfully they were. It`s quite obvious though that he`s going to Oakland. There just about the only team left that has any interest in him.

this will change come closer to the draft..

instead of having to pick up a so-so WR in the middle rounds, they can get a potential HOF WR for cheaper than normal and focus on another need.

he will be picked up

OR.....after 12 years of destroying teams, backstabbing QBs, disrespecting coaches, and dividing lockerroms, NFL GMs realize nothing is worse bringing this team killing cancer into a lockeroom. The risks far outweigh and potential reward(s).

TO was the one that took McNabb and the Iggles to a Superbowl...

It's hard to deny that he is a top 5 WR in the game... At least he's most consistent (only player with 10 TD last 3 years).

Does he drop passes? Sure.
Is he old? Sure.
Does he bring a circus with him? Sure.

Does he perform on game day? Yes.
Does he help you win? Abso<Censored>inglutely.

He wasn't acting like that in San Fran, Steve Young said he was always challenging Jerry. TO does indeed have a crazy circus..but I would pick him up. It's only for this season right now, pick him up for the season and then focus on trying to fill other holes.

If I was a GM of a team like Minni or any other close to superbowl team, he would be picked up.

Saints Coach Sean Payton actually called into the local radio show to say the Saints are no way in hell interested in TO, so don't waste your time talking about it.

Win what? Regular season games? YAY!

And actually, the Eagles were 2-0 in playoff games TO didn't play in, and 0-1 when he did.

He's been cut from two Super Bowl caliber teams in 5 years as well. Teams that brought him in to WIN a Super Bowl. God....pull your head out of his ass.

LOL Pioli was on the radio today locally and was asked about TO. He said right away No, we're a young team and if we go after veterans we want veterans who bring the right character and worth ethic to the team.

Slap in the face :)

You can't make the playoffs w/o the wins in the regular season for one...and second, the Eagles won those two playoff games b/c they came together and proved that they could win w/o Owens on the field.

Again, no T.O. would meant no Super Bowl.

You completely contradict your first point by saying the Eagles came together to prove they could win without T.O. They won without him in the regular season too when he got injured.

And Philly didn't WIN the Super Bowl, so who cares? There's no difference between getting there and losing and not making it at all. Both scenarios are the same. You didn't win it.

SMFH at ESPN

After the initial surprise of Terrell Owens' release had worn off yesterday, many teams began the process of declaring their non-interest in the standout wide receiver. By the end of the day, half of the league's 32 teams had made public statements indicating they would not be interested in signing the star. This leaves the problem of which teams that need help at wide receiver actually do want to roll the dice with Owens. In a text message to ESPN, Owens' agent Drew Rosenhaus indicated "There are several teams that are interested in signing Terrell. I have been in negotiations with these teams. I will not identify these teams at this time. Terrell and I expect to have a deal in place by the end of next week if not sooner." ESPN's Chris Mortensen asked around to his league sources and identified just two teams that are considered a "maybe", those being the Oakland Raiders and San Francisco 49ers.
In addition to the Raiders and the Denver Broncos, who expressed interest in T.O. during his last brush with free agency, there are four other likely destinations for Owens in the AFC: the Buffalo Bills, Cincinnati Bengals, Indianapolis Colts and Kansas City Chiefs. Buffalo is in need of a complement to Lee Evans and the team has been in talks with Laveranues Coles recently. Although Owens would be a dynamic addition to the team, it's not a great fit for him, given the team's poor quarterback play and the blue collar sensibilities of the fanbase.
The Bengals are left with a hole at wide receiver after they lost out on T.J. Houshmandzadeh, and based on their silence regarding Owens there must be some internal conversations going on regarding his potential with the team. With a healthy Carson Palmer returning in 2009, the Bengals would become an instant contender with the addition of T.O., and the weekly touchdown dance oneupmanship between Owens and Chad Ocho Cinco could result in a new record for fines issued to one team for the practice.
Indianapolis has to be considered a bit of a longshot given the current strength of their receiving corps, but the team has not yet stated it won't consider Owens and we'll keep the door open until the team shuts it. That leaves the Chiefs who have been one of the most active teams in free agency so far, and made a tsunami-level splash with the controversial trade for Matt Cassel. With Tony Gonzalez chomping at the bit to play on a championship-level team, an Owens signing would certainly send the Chiefs' offense to new heights, thereby acquiescing somewhat to the demands of the Pro Bowl tight end.
In the NFC, the prospects are less enticing. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are apparently still in the running given their silence on the topic, and with a considerable margin left under the salary cap Owens might be just one of the free agents they'll target in the coming weeks. However, with a shady situation at quarterback it's unlikely T.O. would want to get involved, especially when he'll be competing with franchised wideout Antonio Bryant and tight end Kellen Winslow for passes.
The one division of teams that has remained largely silent on Owens is the NFC North. Two writers for the Chicago Tribune have expressed heated arguments both in favor of the Bears signing Owens, and against the signing. The Green Bay Packers have not yet publicly established that they're out of the Owens picture, but a poll on the website of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel seems to be swaying overwhelming against the fans being in favor of that likelihood. With Aaron Rodgers having developed a fine chemistry with Greg Jennings and Co. last season, an addition of Owens is certainly a difficult sell. Lastly, the Detroit Lions are still in the running, and while they have indicated that the offense will be built around Calvin Johnson going forward, there is no legitimate second option behind Johnson.
As the oft-mentioned cliche goes, 30 NFL teams might not be interested, but it only takes two to make a market.
Pioli already basically said "hell no" yesterday on the radio
