Holt asks for release

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch is reporting is reporting that disgruntled Rams wide receiver Torry Holt has asked for his release.

Slotted to be a free agent after the 2009 season, Holt is due a roster bonus of $1.25 million and will most likely be released or traded before the bonus is paid out on March 17th. Moving Holt would save the Rams $8 million in cap space.

Holt is 11th all-time in career receptions and 14th all time in career receiving yards. Holt's production dropped in 2008 and his streak of consecutive 1,000 yards receiving ended at 8. -AE

I`m not sure if we will be traded or just released and possibly picked up by someone else. His production did drop last season, but he might have another decent season in him. Would be weird to see him in anything but a Rams jersey though, just like it was when Bruce left.

I don't blame him, St. Louis won't make the playoffs for awhile, and he probably won't be in the league for awhile.

Well he wants to be released now b/c they are inevitably going to cut him before March 17th anyways. I think he just wants to get out early and find a new team before teams like the Vikings or Bears spend their money elsewhere.
