Two days after losing T.J. Houshmanzadeh, the Bengals found his replacement. Cincinnati signed free-agent WR Laveranues Coles to a four-year, $28 million contract

He has had success on a couple other teams, so he could add Bengals to that least. Depends on how the year goes, but I think he will help them out somewhat.

Put together a couple of decent seasons with the Redskins, excluding his 1 td catch in 2004, and Carson Palmer is going to be the best quarterback he's ever had throwing to him.

We will see.

It will work out just fine. A good running game with Benson back and a decent passing game with Johnson, Coles, Henry and a defense that was ranked 12th last year, I could see a bright side coming. As long as the offensive line is alright and can protect Palmer!

Can't wait for '09.

it doesnt take a genius to figure out who's calling the shots this offseason! mike has given marvin control of offseason decisions. i dont know how many of you remember john claytons report after the end of season meeting between mike and marvin, but he aluded to the fact that marvin would demand more control if he was going to continue as head coach. we've seen the results of that meeting.look at the following decisions:

francishing graham.........ensuring he's a bengal for one more year, and providing us the
option of resigning him long term if warranted.

not overpaying tj..............stuck to their guns, while making very competitve offer

signing coles...................they get a receiver of equal quality to tj, for less yrs and money

resigning benson..............again, sticking to their guns, not committing long term until ced
benson proves he capable of a full season at high level

resigning crocker.............getting this guy locked up long term was my personal favorite,
a veteran, leader, high character, impact player in this scheme.

these 5 moves alone tell me in no uncertain terms that mr. lewis is getting what HE wants.
moreover, the signing of coles and franchising of graham mean he wants to win NOW.

I hate to rain on your parade Palmer9 but I just can't get excited about Cedric Benson. Your right in pointing out that the Bengals were smart enough to give him only a 1 year deal but its not like the guy made incredible waves last season.

Signing Coles was a good thing to do, plan B, but better than nothing. I still think this team needs to stop worrying about skill positions so much and rebuild that O-Line first and then get to work on the D-Line.

I mean I don't care how good Carson Palmer is and what he can potentially do on the field. If the Bengals O-Line isn't good enough to protect him or open up the holes for the ground game....then your in for another long-ass season my friend.

I wouldn't exactly call him equal quality to TJ but he's a good receiver. And I'm sure as hell glad he's out of the East. He always has a knack for making plays...even impossible ones.

Anyone remember that catch be made where he was knocked down by two NE defenders but land on them and continued to run with the ball?

Did that happen on MNF?
