First post ever...aside from the header...

Pro Bowl C visits Ravens -- 8:07 p.m.
Free agent C Matt Birk visited the Baltimore Ravens and will meet with officials again on Wednesday, Scout.com has confirmed.

A source said that there's a good chance that Birk will make his decision on where he wants to play (Baltimore, with another team, or back with the Minnesota Vikings) by the end of the week.

— Adam Caplan
Forget the Houshmandzadeh negotiations, trading for Cutler, or the damn draft. Re-signing Birk is the top priority of the off-season for me. I am actually po'd that the Vikings failed to make this their top priority and allowed themselves to become distracted with TJ.

Now the guy is off to Baltimore...and Baltimore just lost their last to FA.

You should have Rosenfels in your little picture somewhere.

I don't see Cutler moving. And what could the Vikings offer anyway? I'd assume the Broncos want more then that late first rounder.

Kinda old news to this point...and I dont think anybody believes Cutler moves. Many of us agree that the only way Cutler goes anywhere is if he continues to be a prick about the trade offer thing, refuses to make nice, and then continues to demand a trade.

He is scheduled to meet with the Broncos 'brass' tomorrow.

Oh, nvm, I mis-read your post. I thought I saw it say direct more attention on Cutler. My bad.

No matter, I am all about getting Birk to re-sign right now. We don't have any solid replacement waiting in the wings...so if we lose Birk, we lose the longtime anchor of that O-Line.

I think they've resigned themselves to the fact that Brik is gone and are going to move Cook to center, where he played in college, or roll with John Sullivan whom they drafted as Birk's eventual replacement anyways.

That might sound like a good plan but I'm not 100% confident in Cook playing guard just yet and I have no clue what to expect from Sullivan.

All hope is not lost though. Birk isn't currently scheduled to meet with any other teams & expects to have a decision by the end of the week.

WE need birk back.. he is the leader of that offensive line. Hes been pretty solid his whole career there.. and replacing him right now doesnt look to easy. Re-sign him now.

With the 22nd pick in the draft, the Minnesota Vikings select a tackle (not sure who yet)

Yes, we need a tackle. Marcus Johnson played a lot last season, didn't do too bad of a job, but I would feel more comfortable knowing we have a 1st rounder ready to go.

Childress Statement On Birk
3/4/2009

“The Minnesota Vikings thank Matt for all he did for the organization both on and off the field over the past 11 years. Matt has done a great job and we wanted him to return to the Vikings in ’09, but at this point Matt wanted a change of scenery. We wish him the best and know that he will always be a part of the Vikings family. We look forward to playing Matt this upcoming season at the Metrodome.”
Do we try and sign another Center though? Duke Preston is a big name out there, still unsigned. Maybe Matt Lehr?

Michael Oher from Ole Miss, if he's still there.
