"We're extremely confident that if there are any survivors on the surface of the water that we would have found them," Coast Guard Capt. Timothy Close gave in a statement to the media, just hours ago. This coming after the Coast Guard called off the search for Raiders LB Marquis Cooper, Bucs DL Corey Smith, and former South Florida player William Bleakley.

All 3 men have been missing since they took a fishing trip on Saturday evening. 24-year-old former South Florida player Nick Schuyler was the only man recovered, nearly 36 hours over the boat had overturned. While Schuyler is recovering in a local Tampa hospital, authorities believe that the chances for survival of Cooper, Smith, and Bleakley is extremely mere to impossible at this point.

All searchers have been able to find, since recovering Schuyler, is a cooler and a life jacket 16 miles southeast of the boat. Schuyler told the Coast Guard that the boat was anchored when it capsized in high seas. He said the four friends were able to put on life vests and huddle together, but the others eventually became separated. -AE

Dude, the Coast Guard has searched a pretty vast area of the Ocean, miles and miles of water. At this point the Coast Guard is right, their bodies would have been found by now, if their bodies were still on the surface.

Unfortunately all 3 have most likely drowned.

If they did have the life vests on, shouldn't they be floating somewhere?

Nobody knows whether they were wearing them or not. If the boat flipped over in rough waters...chances are they might not have had a chance to put them on once in the water. Of course, they may have been smart enough to put them on before the boat flipped...but that's assuming they even feared the boat was going to end up like it did.

But yes, if they were wearing their vets then the Coast Guard would of found the bodies afloat by now. No matter how strong the current is, its impossible for the ocean current to travel those bodies faster than a C-130 can fly over it...even with a 10-hour head start.

I know the odds are very slim that they are still out there, and I know that they have searched just about everywhere, but I dont like to believe that they drowned or anything, until I hear it for myself.

I wonder what Schuyler is feeling like though. To possibly be the only one that survived. I would hate that.

Floating around in water that consistently features waves as tall as 7-feet are enough to take down a piece of foam though. Schuyler was lucky to stay with that boat and be able to hold onto it for as long as he did.
