MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Timberwolves point guard Sebastian Telfair missed Minnesota's game against Houston on Sunday night with a groin injury.

Telfair told coach Kevin McHale at the morning shootaround that he wanted to play, but team trainers recommended he sit out to avoid turning the situation more serious.

Telfair is averaging 8.8 points and 4.5 assists and had started the previous 24 games. He was hurt in a game against Portland on Friday night when he had two points on 0-for-5 shooting, two assists and three turnovers.

Veteran Kevin Ollie got the start in his place.

Telfair hasn`t done much this year, and T-Wolves wont make the playoffs, so it doesn`t necessarily hurt them, but it still sucks to see a decent player like Telfair get hurt.
