I guess we improve, but what's the point? We aren't going anywhere this season.

Pretty nice deal for Chicago. Salmons is tearing it up this season.

We also get Simmons and Diogu so I like it more but still... eh.
According to numerous league sources, a trade sending Kings players Brad Miller and John Salmons to Chicago in exchange for Andres Nocioni, Drew Gooden, Michael Ruffin and Cedric Simmons has been agreed upon and is pending league approval.

The deal also involves Portland, with Ike Diogu coming to the Kings for Ruffin. The Kings are also expected to receive approximately $1 million in the trade with Portland.

The Kings are not only a bad team, but an expensive bad team that has a payroll of $69 million. And at a time when they desperately need to improve their salary cap situation for the future, this trade saves them approximately $13.5 million in salary cap room for next season. It could potentially make them more relevant in the free agent market this summer or allow the payroll flexibility to be more active on the trade front after this season. Beyond next season, though, Nocioni's contract will add $6.9 million to payroll in 2010-11 and $6.7 million in 2011-12. Gooden, Ruffin and Simmons all have expiring contracts worth $7.1 million, $1.1 million, and $1.7 million respectively.

Alright, this deal is horrible. Wow. Petrie does it again. I sure hope he's fired within the next few seasons. Wow.

What the <Censored>? The teams don't improve.. but I guess they don't get any worse.

Exactly, its purely a CAP move and purely a move to shake things up a bit.

It's official.
The Chicago Bulls announced today that the team has acquired center/forward Brad Miller and guard/forward John Salmons from the Sacramento Kings for forward Andrés Nocioni, forward/center Drew Gooden, forward Cedric Simmons and forward/center Michael Ruffin.

In a related transaction, Sacramento traded Michael Ruffin to the Portland Trail Blazers for forward Ike Diogu. With this deal, Chicago’s roster now stands at 12.

“When we signed Andrés in 2004, he brought a toughness to our basketball team. He’s been a warrior, and a professional, since the day that he arrived. He has been one of my favorites to ever wear a Bulls uniform; and personally, it was difficult for me to move him,” said John Paxson, Bulls Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations. “Drew played really well for us in the short time that he was here. It’s a tough part of the business when you are traded, and Drew has been traded a few times now, and that is never easy.” “Brad Miller is a skilled big man, who we feel will fit into many of the things that we run offensively. He is a good shooter and passer, and has a natural feel for how to play the game. We feel that he will be a good complement to Joakim, Tyrus and Aaron on our front line,” added Paxson. “John Salmons will bring us tremendous versatility in the backcourt, and at the small forward position. He has good size and length, and has shown the ability to score this year. We feel he’s one of the most improved players in the league at this point of the season.”

"He’s been a warrior, and a professional"

Everytime I have seen Nocioni play he has been jacking up shots and complaining to the refs
