The third big name to be out of a job in as many days...Deuce McAllister was released by the New Orleans Saints today.

The move comes as expected and comes at a time where New Orleans is looking for ways to trim some serious salary. McAllister was due roughly $5 million this upcoming season. Deuce has said that he still has "the itch" to play, will test the market, and wouldn't rule out a possible return to the Saints if he cant find a more lucrative offer elsewhere. Saints GM Mickey Loomis has also said that the door wouldn't be completely shut on McAllister.

McAllister is coming off arthroscopic knee surgery and should be ready to go by the start of next season. He has compiled over 6,000 yards in 8 seasons with the team. -AE

It's not that bad, they still have Reggie Bush out there

I agree..but, much like it is in Jacksonville with MJD, Bush doesn't seem like a good full feature back to me. At least not from last season's stats.

Bush has already shown that he can't handle the full time duties of being the 1 back. When McAllister was hurt most of the 2007 season, Bush struggled to put up the stats.

PT, Reggie, and Bell should get it done.

PT is a unknown too most people, but believe me he will be known this season. Just check out his stats.

Reggie is Reggie, he is a great (maybe the best) multi purpose threat and he will rack up alot of yards. Before his injury at Carolina, he was racking up 174 yards and nearly 1.5 td's a game. On pace for a record, nearly 3,000 yards and 20+ td's. It is all about staying healthy. Whoever thinks he is a bust either doesn't no too much about the game, or has stuck in their heads what a RB should look like.

Bell showed promise. I'd like to see more of him.

I love Deuce and I wish him the best. Hope he will return one day. In honor of Deuce, I shall keep my avatar for the entire upcoming season.

That`d be nice. I definately did see this coming though. With the emergence of Thomas last season, I knew someone had to go, and Deuce would be the 1st choice, which I think he probably even knew it.

Hopefully he goes somewhere else though, and gets some decent numbers.
