The NBPA and NBA are apparently in agreement that the Blazers' position, outlined in an e-mail warning teams not to sign Darius Miles, is without merit.

"We are shocked at the brazen attempt by the Portland Trail Blazers to try to prevent Darius Miles from continuing his NBA career," the NBPA's executive director, Billy Hunter, said in a statement released Friday evening. "Their attempt to intimidate the other 29 NBA teams by threatening frivolous litigation merely for signing this capable NBA veteran is a clear violation of the anti-collusion and other provisions of our collective bargaining agreement. We will vigorously defend Darius' rights."

On Friday morning, the NBA league office notified teams that Miles cleared waivers and is eligible to be signed to a contract. "Any such contract," the league memo stated, "would be approved by the NBA."

The statement indicates that as far as the league is concerned, teams are not constrained from signing Miles.

Any such constraint could be considered collusive activity that harms the player's right to freely enter into a contract under the rules of the collective bargaining agreement.
Since there soo much news on him lol

Memphis to the rescue!
TORONTO — Grizzlies general manager Chris Wallace said Friday night the team has signed veteran forward Darius Miles to a 10-day contract.

Amid simmering controversy, the move sets the stage for Miles to continue a comeback attempt from major knee surgery and adversely affect his former team’s salary cap situation in the process.

Miles is expected in Memphis on Saturday. He has visited family in Mississippi since Tuesday when the Griz waived the 6-9 forward to avoid guaranteeing his contract for the rest of the season.

So Miles won’t have to travel far in order to put an exclamation point on an unprecedented NBA saga given the ramifications his return likely will have for the Portland Trail Blazers.

If Miles appears in two more games this season, the $18 million remaining on his salary will count against the Blazers’ salary cap. The development would make the Blazers a luxury-tax payer and limit their future free-agent spending.

No they won't. Money talks.

Maybe vets, but not young players. At all.

The Trail Blazers attempted to claim Darius Miles off waivers last week, only to be stopped by the league, multiple front-office sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Portland president Larry Miller and general manager Kevin Pritchard apparently were willing to stash Miles on the sideline and keep him away from other NBA teams.

In denying the Blazers’ move to control Miles, NBA front-office sources say that league executives in New York denied the waiver claim because they believed the Blazers were merely trying to circumvent league salary cap rules.
See Greg, the NBA wouldn't allow it.

They will still sign Oden, Roy and Aldridge to extensions when they are up.
That's for sure.
We'll see with Rudy, Bayless, Sergio, etc.

"(Bleep) that guy, he's walking around rubbing everyone's nose in the deals he's made and even with all those lottery players his team is still not in the playoffs. There was a line of guys in the league waiting to sign D. Miles if Memphis didn't."

I really think the Blazers young core will take less to play for that team.
They know that they have a chnace to be one of the best team's if they stay together.

No need to resign Rodriguez. I would sign Rudy and Bayless WAYYY ahead of Sergio.

I don't see why he can't go back to how he was. As long as that injury doesn't return..
