i being a diehard saints fan, hear way too much criticism of reggie. i think he is a great player and will be a star in the nfl for years to come.

why do people say he is a bust? or that he is overrated? here are some of the points that i've seen brought up:

Fact = Reginald is not a good NFL player....not even analysts will back him up anymore, and thats like **** freezing over. NFL fans of every team except the Saints have seen it since last season.

Fact = Reginald does a significant number of commercials...Fat Head, Subway, Gatorade, shoes, local stuff...and he certainly hasn't had the NFL success in relation to those commercials...that last point is irrelevant, but the fact that he does A SIGNIFICANT # of commercials in the offseason is clear for everyone to see. You dont see Brees in 15 commercials a day.

Fact = You claims Reggie was healthy enough to play, and is a "competitor, and doesnt want to lose", but he IS CONCEDING. The goal of a football team is to get a championship, thats obvious....but the ultimate goal of a pro sports team is to entertain fans. So either Reginald is a soft....which has been established in the NFL anyways....or he really doesn't care about winning.

And I always throw in the weight lifting comment with Reginald because he cant do jack with all that muscle in the NFL = mirror muscle and not functional, NFL strength. Thats pretty clear from his offseason modeling spreads that he loves his body and himself a bit too much.

You dont see a baller like Anquan Boldin, who is even bigger, strutting around shirtless.

Please don't bring up "everybody does it" defense for Reginald and taking money. Thats like a Nazi sympathizer saying "everyone else was killing too"....it still makes it very immoral, against the law, and shows a massive lack of character.

So...lets some it up....

Positives:
Athletic
Brings attention to the Saints
Likes situps

Negatives:
soft on the football field against NFL level competition - runs out of bounds or dives at feet A LOT
not explosive enough/lacks running vision - one of the lowest 20+ yard play % in the NFL
fumbles a lot - one of the highest fumble rate of any NFL running back
costs a lot - massive contract, more than AP and Turner by a great margin
mind preoccupied with parties, commercials - on commercials a dozen times a day
injury prone - has missed significant time in the past 2 seasons
you act like people should be impressed that Bush has alot of recieving yards. Ofcourse he can outrun a ****ing LBer that is covering him. He is kind of a runningback. If anyback in the league went out for as many screenpasses as he did they would have the same result.
Bush is more dynamic than Turner.

Turner is more physical, more imposing and a bruiser.

We've got our dynamic back. His name is Jerious Norwood. We can afford to use him just on 3rd down, because we didn't select the biggest draft bust in history.

It's not his fault we expected him to be Gale Sayers. Y'all were the ones touting him as the savior of the city of New Orleans.

if anything, he's been nothing more than Drew Brees' safety outlet.

He's not a bust. But he won't live up to what was expected. I beleive his game is more valuable at the college level.

no1 would have lived up to it. idk about yall, but i'd take 1114 yards in 8 and a half games any season.

anyone would.

I still think he's very good, but I'm not gonna argue whether or not he would have lived up to the hype. His hype was waaaay too big and we all know that.

Reggie Bush was drafted to be the "face of the Saints franchise"...actually the local celebrity of a city that was desperate to rebuild. He definitely hasn't let anyone down in that department but let's face it...the guy was drafted #2 overall and isn't best suited to be a full-feature NFL back at all.

No doubt the guy is a play maker...but so are a lot of other NFL players, who didn't win the Heisman trophy, didn't win a pair of National Titles, and weren't even drafted in the 1st round.

I think the Saints thought they would be getting a guy who could do what Adrian Peterson has done for the Vikings and unfortunately for them, Reggie just isn't going to ever be that guy. Given Deuce's deteriorating body & being on the backside of his career, the Saints are going to be hot up for another RB real soon.

He will never live up to his hype. And like hov said i feel his game is more suited to college. I feel that honestly they may as well play him at WR. Pierre thomas is pretty good. And he can carry the load and thats something i feel Reggie cant do.

I heard NFL Network slamming him pretty good last Thursday I believe. I don't have anything against him or the Saints but I personally think Michael Turner is a better RB. Bush just has a lot of speed and is more of a outside runner.

this right here is what hurts reggie. it isn't yalls fault, but alot of people outside of nola think that reggie was drafted to be a adrian peterson. by reality, that is farthest from the truth. the saints envisioned reggie as what he is now, a guy who gets 15-20 touches a game mixed in with big plays. sure, the saints thought he'd be a better rusher, but it is all about being patient. he often outruns his blocks, though he is getting better and that has become very noticeable. the last two games he has 16 carries for 110 yards, and he has made noticeable strides this entire season. again, the saints weren't expecting reggie to be a full-time back. they knew he had to have a partner, they thought that it would be deuce, but it has turned out to be pt. the most underrated back in the nfl imo. reggie wasn't drafted to be a full feature back, he was drafted to fit in. something he does really well with pierre thomas.

also, mark my words, pierre will be a star.

something alot of people find suprising and don't know is that reggie is actually a far better inside runner than outside.

he's averaged somewhere around 4.3 inside the tackles, and 2.1 outside the tackles for his career.

It's hard to say Reggie has made strides when he's spent most of the season inactive & his spotlight has come primarily from punt returns.

I just find it hard to believe that the Saints invested a 2nd overall pick & 2nd overall pick money on a guy they only planned on being a part-time RB/Return specialist.

I think your a bit biased on this CP3, understandably so, but its unreasonable to claim that any guy drafted that high, especially given Bush's collegiate stardom, was added under the pretense that he would simply "fit in".

i'm not being biased, i'm going by what came out of coach paytons mouth after draft time. the saints wanted mario williams, reggie was the second player on their board.

I agree with most of what has already been said. He wont ever live up to his hype, but he is definately a major threat to score on you ever play, espcially as a returner.

Plus, he has a nice looking g/f i`m not gonna lie  :D
