Will be interesting to see what the Patriots will do with this, because Cassel has been playing amazing lately, he might have even shot himself into the MVP race, maybe not that far but he has been damn impressive. Now saying this, the Patriots can't afford to keep both, because you have to think someone will offer Cassel the big bucks. Any possible destinations for him? If Kolb doesn't show something the Eagles could go after him if they don't want McNabb anymore. Always there is the Bears. I would love for the Browns to get him, because I have no trust in Quinn but the Browns organization seems to have a different opinion then me lol.

Also, lets say the Patriots were to win the super bowl with Cassel, do they get rid of Brady?

the offense is the exact some as last year subtract brady and maroney (ya and a few other off season losses like stallworth), but it has the main key components

not dissing cassel or nothing cuz he has kept us in the playoff race but i mean this is the same team that brady threw 50 touchdowns too last year... Cassel has good surroundingds and on an average team he will not be any more than an average quaterback... so pats will let him go unless it looks like Brady is done for a long time

Cassel is no Tom Brady.

Tom Brady is the Patriots.

Good attempt at controversy though.

Matt Cassell hasn't proven anything yet. Yes, he's done a great job taking over and doing well but I don't see how you could compare him to Tom Brady when the guy has played 11 weeks of football compared to Brady's great career with Superbowl victories.

This isn't to bring controversy :l I meant this to where he will go, not if he will replace Tom Brady. Now if he wins the super bowl, and Brady coming off major knee surgeries, it could be a different story.

Cassel has actually proven a lot. He has proven that he can take a team that people thought would be .500 at best and make them a good football team with a shot at a playoff spot. He is not Brady BUT look at Brady's first year and compare it to Cassel's year this year. hmmmm. Cassel remind you of someone? I say franchise Cassel. See if Brady is health. If he is, trade Cassel. They will get a lot for him.

Let's put it this way, there's almost a dozen possibilities for where he will land...
Right now, since Kolb's not playing Thursday, you cant be 100% certain McNabb will be out of Philly next season. Maybe 85%..

i think Cassel is a solid QB but in NO way better than Brady before his injury. hes going to be over-paid wherever he goes. but as CR04 said, if they do keep him and decide to trade him i think they could get something pretty good in return

The Jets wouldn't be in possession of the AFC East lead if Tom Brady never went down.

I also wouldn't worry too much about Brady, a pocket QB, coming off knee surgery. It's not like he does a whole lot of running or anything. If Ronnie Brown and Cadillac can rebound from tearing up their knees...Brady will be just fine. He makes his money with his arm.

Cassell will be getting big bucks in the offseason, I'm not sure how well he'll play in another team's system though, without his great WRs.

You all have some very good and interesting points. I would definitely franchise Cassel and see if Brady's knees are going to hold up to the grind and grits of a full season after major surgery. If Brady is fine, then trade Cassel for high value. It is the economic of the game, and the most common sense choice. The Browns made a mistake with Derrick Anderson when his value is high, should of traded him and started the Brady Quinn Era this past season, but now, that Quinn is a goner for the season, it made the Browns look wiser in keeping DA. Of course, this will be an interesting scenario to watch.

I will give Cassel credit where it is due, he is playing like Tom Brady the last couple of games. Just amazing to watch him throw 400 +. WOW!!!

Exactly what I have been saying. We need to keep Cassel to see if Brady will hold up and we could get so much for him. And he is very Brady like. Anyone remember what Brady led the Patriots to in his first year? :)

ya Franchising him seems like the best choice. If Brady encounters some sort of Setback prior to the draft, you've still got him. If he's fine and appears ready, then you trade him right b4 draft.
