NFL.com reports that the Detroit Lions lost both of their starting defensive ends this weekend due to injury.
To add injury to insult, the Lions lost both starting defensive ends to injuries in Sunday’s 38-14 defeat to the Jaguars. Dewayne White suffered a calf injury during the first half and did not return to the game, according to Lions coach Rod Marinelli. Jared DeVries may have a fractured hand that could require surgery. Marinelli said DeVries would have X-rays on the injured hand on Monday.

They sucked with them, so it really doesn't matter. It just sucks that they are hurt though.

i know they havent, but a struggling team just lost two starting players on defense. That's still pretty important when you have 0 wins.

still. Who knows how serious this is. If the injuries are serious, that means less depth...

Detroit's whole staff is messed up, to there players are messed up. This team doesn't have nothing happening for them, I think the owner should just sell the team to someone else that knows what to do, and then they need to clean the whole house from firing every staff member and getting rid of old players that don't do nothing.

And drafting a good/decent quarterback and start off like that.

Atlanta has to be the luckiest team, getting a great quarterback like Ryan. The kid is a rookie and is playing on a veteran level.

Ford needs to worry more about car sales and give the team to Ilitch, owner of the Tigers and the Red Wings, who excluding this year for the Tigers, are teams that are capable of being contenders every year in their respective sports. I like Marinelli, and I hate to see it but he will most likely be gone. They need wins, and it`s just not happening, the only thing though, is that Rod brought a bunch of players from Tampa to Detroit, and I`m worried they will leave as well.

As for the draft, TTechs Graham Harrell is a senior this year, which would be a great step in the right direction to pick him up, as long as he has Matt Ryan or Joe Flacco numbers. They also have another 1st round pick, from the Roy Williams trade to Dallas, so if they use that wisely could hopefully help matters even more.

There is no way that Harrell will go top 5. I really would like someone like Matthew Stafford. The protypical NFL QB.

Yeah. I would be happier if they picked up Stafford other than Harrell, although, top 5 is a stretch, he might not be far behind that for some teams are in need of a strong backup, possibly a starter right out of the gates.

Every mock draft I saw, it has Detroit drafting Matt Stafford and with the Cowboys pick some mock have you drafting a OT, DE, RB. I would defiantly go for a Offensive Tackle, you guys will need that in the long run. And that would be a great draft for you guys, drafting a QB and a OT.

I must miss what everyone sees in Stafford, every time I watch him, he looks like crap. I also don't see a point in drafting a QB first (or at all), they have Culpepper for at least next season, and they still have Stanton (who looked pretty good this weekend), drafting another QB would just block the progress of Stanton, or maybe whoever they draft. Plus, um, they can't protect a QB, so why draft one now, he'll just go out and die, sure up other spots first.

I also don't see any promising QBs in this draft anyway.

Can't get much worse for the Lions.

I've watched Matthew Stafford AND Graham Harrell and I think Harrell is BY FAR a better QB. Very accurate. I've seen more out of Harrell then I have Stafford. Well, this year anyways.
