Detroit Pistons President of Basketball Operations Joe Dumars announced today that the team has signed free agent guard Alex Acker to a contract. Per club policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Playing overseas the last two seasons, Acker averaged 6.7 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 30 games for FC Barcelona last season and 14.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists with Olympiacos in 2006-07 Euroleague play.

The 6-foot-5, 185-pound guard played five games with the Pistons during the 2005-06 season, averaging 1.8 points and 1.0 rebounds per game. He was drafted by Detroit with the 60th overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft.
He would be on our roster if he didn't hurt his ankle again.
I just hope he plays in the dleague then takes Bynum's waste of a spot.
Then he could be our 3rd guard :)

I kind of have a minor man crush on him and Maxxy.

He's a combo guard but more of a SG with PG handles and vision.
Good shooter nice D and has good hops.
6'5 190ish waaaay better than Bynum, I just hope he can stay with the team.

I actually talked to him and Amir through Myspace(yes it's ther real Myspace).

Hmm, I'd like to talk to Acker on myspace lol.

I've never seen him play really so I don't know what to say about the sign. I'd rather have Bynum though.

No you won't.
They will both see the same amount of time -- Almost none.
But Acker is better, he played in Europe for the last 3 years so he's got some pro experiance.
He also started and what not there so he has more potential and can handle this more than Bynum, I just hope he sticks with us,
Dumars better keep him.

Lol, Bynum has had international and NBA experience. And is pretty athletic.

I doubt both Acker and Bynum make the team.

yes they are.
Thats why I want Billups and Sheed gone, they can help them talent wise but they can also teach the young guns bad habits an sht like that.

Puggy, this should make you happy.

Alex Acker won't have to earn a roster spot after all. The 6-foot-5 combo guard signed a one-year, fully guaranteed contract with the Pistons. By signing Acker, drafted by the Pistons with the final pick (No. 60) of the 2005 NBA draft, the Pistons now have the NBA-maximum 15 players with guaranteed.
Which I believe means he can't be cut..

They can still cut him but they'll have to still pay him. That means he is most likly here to stay :)
