Benson and Alexander on Lions list?

Detroit Free Press - The Lions have taken a look at free agent running back Cedric Benson and Shaun Alexander, and some reports indicate that Benson could soon sign with the team, according to Detroit Free Press.

Free agent Vernand Morency also met with the team.

According to Austin, Texas, city council member Mike Martinez, Benson is about to sign with the Lions.

"Unfortunately, but fortunately, Cedric Benson is not here today," Martinez said recently at an event. "He is actually signing a contract today to get back in the game with the Detroit Lions, and the reason why that's a good thing is that the foundation will continue to grow as long as Cedric continues to do what he does on the field."

haha, well trying to have a solid running game to take the pressure off of our passing game. i think the lions visioned him to be a good 1-2 punch with kevin smith but hes not getting very many carries
