So as it turns out, the Nets were given a huge, irrevocable, future-shattering, silver-plated opportunity to finish off the fire sale late Wednesday night, when they were completing the deal with Milwaukee.

The Cavs called. Wally Szczerbiak for Vince Carter, they offered.

Yes, the Nets thought about it, long and hard. For obvious reasons.

Although I believe that this is what would be best for the team, because all VC does is shoot now and Wally is a better shooter, and also because Wally's cap will be gone. Rod Thorn will not do this because without VC on the team no one will attend Net games and there won't be a big name to sell jerseys with

I really do not see the Cavs and Nets dealing in the near future.. Both teams have huge reasons not to do this. If the Cavs did this it would open up even more cap for the Nets in the 2010 season, and give them plenty enough to get LeBron and more attracting him to go even more. And if the Nets do it, it quite possibly gives LeBron the sidekick he always has needed in Cleveland and might be enough to make him stay.. I just don't see these two teams ever dealing.

I actually agree with elcheato. They wont be dealing because we all know the nets are gonna make a run at Lebron in 2010 and actually have a chance to get him especially with the jay-z connection. If this deal was gonna go threw it could potenially put the cavs at the celtics level imo.

If LeBron just has one all-star who can pitch in 20 points per game, thats just enough to get back to the finals and win.. He made the finals with nothing, I'm sure he can make it with something.

But that was the year when the east was just ass. I mean, it was basically them and the pistons. That's it.

There isn't enough shots for VC and LBJ. Only 48 minutes of basketball can be played.
