I was looking at the rumor section on ESPN for the NBA and I came across this interesting one..

"The Knicks are going to take Danilo Gallinari," Nets president Rod Thorn said last night, referring to the Italian forward who had been at the top of his wish list all month. "And the others have yet to make up their minds. Which means that we still have three or four different guys who can drop to us." -- The Star-Ledger
How the Nets president knows, I have no idea. We'll see if its true tonight.

I seen this also.

I dont understand why Thorn thinks we're taking Gallinari, I HIGHLY doubt Walsh told him our plans.

On another note, I hope we dont take him, and Walsh said yesterday we're targeting a PG with the 6th pick. I think Gallinari in last resort. But still Augustin should still be available.

D'Antoni wasn't high on him, but somebody convinced him otherwise. Plus after seeing his highlight reel stuff.

I think he'd be an ok pick. I mean from what I've seen he's explosive and can get to the rim and dunk on people. ALso he can shoot the 3.

Possibly a better version of a Bostjan Nachbar.

Exactly what I was thinking, the Italian connections must have been too strong to resist.

Nah, like Dickie V said in 2003...

"I dont know Milicic, but I know Carmelo Anthony"

Same thing with Bayless and Gallinari. I dont see him becoming anything special, his game wont translate into becoming the next great European player. Nothing about him is "unusual or special"

1st bad move by Walsh and D'Antoni.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WTF I might sacrifice myself as a knick fan
^ here's one of your fans reactions on another board

Sorry *** excuse for a GM Walsh allowed Coach D'Antoni to hook up this guy because he knows his father. This pick is BS, I was at the draft and we let the Knicks organization know this pick sucked! I'm sick and tired of this franchise we will continue to be the laughing stock of the NBA.
^ Another reaction

I feel sorry for Knick fans. Every year it's the same thing.
Check out the draft history for the Knick for the past decade or so.
Not one player listed below (aside from Nene, who the Knicks traded the rights away to Denver along with Camby and Jackson for McDyess and Frank Willaims) would start for 75% of the teams in the NBA. In fact, most of the players listed below did not make it past their rookie contract.

And you don't want to see the players that the Knicks left on the board when they selected highly touted players like Renaldo Balkman.

2007 - 1 Wilson Chandler
2006 - 1 Renaldo Balkman, Mardy Collins
2005 - 1 Channing Frye, David Lee, 2 Dijon Thompson
2004 - 1 Trevor Ariza
2003 - 1 Michael Sweetney, 2 Maciej Lampe, Slavko Vranes
2002 - 1 Nene Hilario
2001 - 2 Michael Wright, 2 Eric Chenowith
2000 - 2 Lavor Postell, Pete Mickeal
1999 - 1 Frederic Weis, J.R. Koch
1998 - 2 DeMarco Johnson, Sean Marks
1997 - 1 John Thomas

I really think the fans are really hating this pick lol
