Correct. They can't be official until the 1st.

And the bottom line said the JO trade was official, but both teams are saying its not done yet.

OMG, we could've gotten more for RJ but Yi should help us in the near future. We need Simmons to step up and be good for the 10 PPG he averaged during his Milwaukee days.

Sources: Nets agree to trade Jefferson to Bucks for Yi, Simmons

The New Jersey Nets and Milwaukee Bucks are on the verge of a trade that will send Richard Jefferson to the Bucks for forwards Yi Jianlian and Bobby Simmons, according to NBA front-office sources.

Sources told ESPN.com that the deal has been agreed to and submitted for league approval in advance of Thursday night's draft. No draft picks are involved in the trade, sources said.

Such a swap would create an estimated $10-plus million in long-term savings for the Nets as they continue to re-shape their team after trading another mainstay -- point guard Jason Kidd -- to Dallas in February.

The trade would also enable Yi to make a move to the larger media market he was hoping for this time last year, when Milwaukee drafted him out of China with the sixth overall pick. Kiki Vandeweghe, New Jersey's new general manager alongside team president Rod Thorn, is a longstanding Yi fan who has frequently likened the 7-footer's perimeter skills and potential to Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki.

The Bucks, meanwhile, would be supplying new coach Scott Skiles with a veteran player coming off his best season to fill a problem position. Jefferson averaged 22.7 points per game last season and played all 82 games after an injury-plagued 2006-07 season.

I really like this deal for the Bucks Yi was in a a tough spot with Charlie V there. And SF was one of the spots that just couldn't stick for the Bucks. Simmons and Mason couldn't do much there.

Great trade for the Bucks IMO, like others have already stated this might keep Redd in Milwaukee also.

Yeah Redd will stay now.

Bucks aren't looking too bad, maybe good enough to get them in the 6th spot. They still aren't good enough to pass Detroit and Cleveland.

Horrible trade for the Nets, just bad. The only good I can see from this is that Yi will be happy because he's that much closer to Chinatown. They obviously are going with a youth movement so is Vince Carter next?

I wonder if the Bucks can make the playoffs now. plus they have the #8 pick? I think they need to draft a Big-Man, because Mo-Redd-RJ is a nice backcourt.

It's not like RJ was going to lead us very far and with us dealing his large contract we can attempt to bring LeBron in 2010. RJ and VC are too similar to co-exist properly and RJ had some problems with Frank.

Somehow I don't see LBJ going to Brooklyn despite all the rumors.
