Yea but the sonics could want rubio next year. you know people are sayin he's the next maravich.
But if the Sonics have a playoff season(doubtful) or even a cloe to one(could happen) then they will have no or a low lottery pick, and the Clippers 1st will prolly be top 10 or lottery protected. And Rubio will prolly be a top 5 player. So that means no Rubio for them, unless they trade for him.

This trade was stupid, they coulda got more for this pick.

i read in an srticle that the only reason they compare him to Pistol is because he looks like him, and is a great PG.
the article also said that as crazy as this sounds, he looks more like Magic than anything

It wont be that bad once next years draft rolls around.

No way the Sonics even contend for a playoff spot, so they are guarenteed at least one lottery pick. Plus the Clippers pick wont be too good, I doubt they make the playoffs either.

Anything can happen, they could make a huge trade or just somehow get close to the playoffs. I'm just saying betting on getting a kid who could not even be there in the NEXT years draft is stupid, when they coulda had a great player THIS draft.

He has the best vision i've ever seen a teenage player have. He will be playin in the olympics too. He does look like pistol. heres his nbadraft profile below. He's gonna be beast.

Strengths: The problem with Ricky Rubio is: Where to start? He has more skill than anyone in his worldwide age group. Including but not limited to: Defense, anticipation, intelligence, ball handling, PG (vision) creation, rhythm, coordination, ambition, scoring and personality ... He is practically ambidextrous, has good foot speed (not great) and excellent body control ... With excellent use of speed/ direction changes he excels both on the open court and the half court game as a set up or assist man ... Catch and shoot is quick and clean ... A smart rebounder, he gets optimum position under both boards ... Voted the best Euro young player for 2007, he has only acceptable shooting %'s both from 2 and 3 points. His shooting delivery is consistent with no waste of time or extra movement. I ve thought about it a lot and think the best comparison to past-present NBA players would be the best of both Walt Clyde Frazier and Steve Nash ... At 17 years old he is already a feared and well respected ACB and Euro-level competitor. He is a warrior and plays all out, all the time. On top of that knows how to flop (with this kid it's an art form) ... He's also a master at getting to the FT line, where he knocs down a high rate (80%) ... Adventurous in his passing, he has two skills; Seeing and when necessary, creation of passing lanes. Excellent. Statistically he is a gem and he has personality. He leads. He knows how to win ... He will become a household name in many more households.

Great trade for the Sonics.. They move down 3 spots and they'll have there lotto next year, and the Clippers lotto. Giving them a full lineup of youthful players.

PG: One of the picks
SG: Kevin Durant
SF: Jeff Green
PF: One of the picks
C: One of the picks

I heard the Clippers are high on Mayo. But #4 for #7 and a future first is pretty stupid if you ask me. But I guess they thought who ever they were going after would be there at #7...Bayless perhaps?

You guys need to REALIZE that the Clippers 1st for next year will be and is PROTECTED, it could end up being Lottery protected and will ATLEAST be TOP 10 protected, that is not a good trade, the Sonics should ATLEAST try and get another 2nd for THIS years draft.

The Sonics would not do it if the pick was protected if it hits the lotto or if it hits top 10.. The only thing I see as protected is top 3 or top 5.

Heres the article:

Sonics and Clippers swap 4 for 7

The 2008 NBA draft is still a couple hours away, but the wheeling and dealing is already in high gear.

Sources close to NBADraft.net say the Seattle SuperSonics and Los Angeles Clippers will be swapping spots in the lottery.

Seattle, who has its eye on Stanford center Brook Lopez, will move down to No. 7 while the Clips, desperate for backcourt help, will likely select Russell Westbrook at No. 4.

The rest of the deal is still being hammered out, but look for an official announcement during tonight's draft.

Stay tuned to NBADraft.net for further updates as this story develops.

Just heard that this deal will only go down if Minny takes Mayo, if they don't, its off.
