There are reports that the Portland Trail Blazers "heavily pursued" Toronto Raptors point guard Jose Calderon, prior to the trade deadline on Feb. 21, but were obviously rebuffed.

Portland management apparently is not thrilled with its point-guard situation and apparently will try to sign Calderon, a restricted free agent, in the off-season, but Raptors GM Bryan Colangelo has made it known that he will match any offer for Calderon.

The Spanish national team standout has said that he wishes to remain in Toronto and the Raptors obviously want to keep Calderon as an insurance policy with T.J. Ford's precarious injury situation.

lol even if they tried they wouldnt catch the Heat lol

but Calderon is ALOT better then what I thought, and has filled in very nicely in Ford's absence. I doubt they get him, especially since he wants to stay in Toronto and Colangelo already said he would match any offer....guess they have to start looking somewhere else.....

Flip, if he's offered big money elsewhere - why not?

I don't think the Raps will give him much - they are paying Ford I believe 8.5 mill a year for a while, and when Ford was healthy, Calderon was coming off the bench...

I think Calderon is really the exact player Steve Nash is, skill wise. Nash takes more shots, and thus, scores more... Calderon and Nash shoot virtually the same % from everywhere... Nash has more APG, but Calderon has one of the best AST/TO of all time.

Calderon is a PG I'd love the Knicks to get, but he wouldn't fit with us =(

I can see him as a blazer with Sergio Rodriguez

The Heat are also extremely intrested.
Like Yakns said he is a Point Guard, One of the best...I'd love to have him but the Pistons wouldn't have a need for him.

But I have doubts that he'll leave the Raps, he'll be overed big money(compared to what the Raps offer) but he'll stay.
