Press Release -
The New Jersey Nets have acquired guards Devin Harris, Trenton Hassell, Maurice Ager, center DeSagana Diop and forward Keith Van Horn along with Dallas’ first round draft picks in 2008 and 2010, and cash considerations from the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for guard Jason Kidd and forwards Antoine Wright and Malik Allen, Nets President Rod Thorn announced today.

“This trade provides us with immediate help, most notably with the acquisition of Devin Harris, who we consider one of the rising young point guards in the NBA,” said Thorn. “Harris's numbers have improved each of his four years in the league, and we feel that he has a significant upside. This trade also will give us two future first round draft picks and will give us flexibility to improve our roster.”

"Jason Kidd has been the best player to wear a Nets uniform during my current tenure with the Nets,” added Thorn. “He was the toughest competitor with the fiercest will to win and he was the main component in the most successful period in the Nets NBA history. Jason is a first ballot Hall of Famer and the man most responsible for transforming the Nets into a high quality NBA team. We wish him nothing but success in his future endeavors.”
Well there is the offical trade in bold. The deal is now official. Look like they just added Wright into the original deal aswell, rather a seperate one.

Also the Mavs waived:
Press Release -
The Dallas Mavericks announced today that they have waived forward Nick Fazekas.

Fazekas (6-11, 235) was selected by Dallas with the 34th overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft. He saw action in four games with the Mavericks this season averaging 1.0 point in 2.3 minutes. He spent 28 games (24 starts) with the Tulsa 66ers of the NBA D-League and averaged 19.1 points, 9.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 30.5 minutes per game. He was selected as a D-League All-Star but did not play in the game.
Poor Fazekas :(

I like the acquisition of Wright for Dallas, makes the trade seem a little more balanced.

Like I said before this move makes the Mavs the team o beat in he west.

I agree.. I don't get at all why NJ wanted to move em though.

Well the original deal had the two first rounders anyways didn't it?

They were having a second deal I think that had him going for some 2nd round pick or something like that.

Yea the 2 1st rounders have been there, but honesly Harris and the picks would have been enough for kidd IMO....but he makes 19mil a year and thats why so many players are headedto NJ, it makes sense to add Wright

The Mavs won't win the West either way. Yea they got better but the West is STACKED. Then i 3 years they'll be a lottery team or a just sliiping into the playoffs team.

The Nets I'd say won. They now have Marcus Williams and Devin Harris thats gunna be a nice back court in the future. Cuz it lets Devin play SG and Marcus play PG.
Now the Nets need to move VC and RJ and start building around Sean Williams Devin and Marcus.

Yeah, good point. But I think the trade works without Wright too though. Could be wrong but, I think they should of just held on to em. But I bet Wright wanted to leave so..

Maybe, seeing as they don't have any young guards or centers. Dirk isn't getting any younger either.

Sooner or later J-Ho is going to have to run that team.

Hes not a young player to build around though. He's 27 I belive. Yea he can lead the team but he will only be a star player for like 5 or 6 years yea thats a long time but still Harris was a player you could have built around for 10-12 years.

They also added Antoine Wright....and Wright is an upgraded form of Ager.

Too bad for Fazekas.

I think you can build around JH5... He can score, rebounds decently, and plays very good D... Amazingly high energy...

Yea but what I meant is that Devin could have been the leader of that team for 10-12 year while JH5 will most likely only have 5-6 good years left.
We'll see how this plays out, but I'm favoring New Jersey in this.

You can't build around Devin Harris...

He can become 2 different players: He can become a 22/5 guy, or a 16/8 guy... He's a slasher and can't shoot very well... His passing also isn't great and has sub par court vision... Darrell Armstrong can help him learn the game, and maybe Harris can prove me wrong...

But best case scenario, he'll become Dwyane Wade except a worse jumper and much less big game mentality.

I think it's not a great deal for the Nets, bu t you know what... They had no other choice...

I've said it before and I'll say it again: The Mavs have nothing to lose with the deal, and the Nets have nothing to win.

Over the offseason, one can go from no jumpshot to a decent jumpshot, then next offseason from decent to good....I see Harris coming to be more like Monta Ellis, who is averaging close to 20-25 PPG lately.
