According to the Los Angeles Times website, Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Mike Martz is expected to be fired following tomorrow's season finale versus the Packers. ESPN's NFL Analyst Chris Mortensen has confirmed that several sources close to the situation expect longtime wide receivers coach Kippy Brown to replace Martz.

At 7-8, the Lions rank near the bottom of several offensive categories including rushing and interceptions. This is certainly unacceptable considering the number of weapons the Lions possess on the offensive side of the football. Martz has been with the Lions since Rod Marinelli brought him in prior to the 2006 season.

The Times also made it known that they don't expect Martz to be unemployed for long. Rumor has it that Martz is the favorite to replace Jim Hostler as San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator. The 49ers are said to be eying Martz because of his familiarity of the west coast offense and his success as head coach of the St. Louis Rams, who also play in the NFC West. -AE

Good get rid of his ass. I was so excited when he came here, but now get rid of his ass. I thought Kippy Brown was going to Tennesse or something to be a OC? I wouldn't mind him being our OC so we can pound the rock more, but who is going to if we get rid of T.J. Duckett?

probelm isn't Martz == it's the QB & RB IMO..

Kitna is not suited for Martz's system, and the RB situtation is a shamble in itself.. they trade their best CB for Bell, who hardly plays and KJ can't stay healthy. not to mention that they lack the superior OT needed for pass protection... much more wrong with Lions then just Mike Martz

I beg to differ. When we ran the ball 8,7, and 6 times a game we lost every game, hell got blown out. We only pass the ball the defense knows and we get blown out. Then when we run the ball and our offense balance we play the best against the best teams in the NFC. We almost beat the Cowboys and we were very balanced. We should've kept Bly, but he was being negative so he had to go. Bell hasn't even played since like week 5 I think.

Well, if Millen could get us an O-Line, Martz would of looked a hell of a lot better at his job. I blame Millen..

Meh, he's always the one to blame right. He tried to get a decent RT in Foster, but he didn't do <Censored>. Brought over Edwin Mulitalo, who didn't play to bad for being a free agent. Jonathan Scott would've been better then Foster if he stayed healthy. Woody didn't play bad at RT when he started playing their. I wouldn't blame it all on Millen.
