Miami Herald -
Miami Heat center Alonzo Mourning left Wednesday night's game against the Atlanta Hawks in the first quarter after tearing the patella tendon in his right knee.

Mourning suffered the injury when his knee appeared to buckle while attempting to block a Mario West running layup.

The 37-year old was visibly upset, pounding the court in frustration. After refusing a stretcher, Mourning was helped to the sidelines by teammates
This sucks he is out for the rest of the season and I doubt he'll come back I feel sorry for him he still had atleast two years left and he gets injured late in his career...

Now the Heat are for sure lottery bound(even if Zo didn't get injured)

As much as I don't like Zo, it's a sad thing to see. Hang it up old fella.

Well this was his last season as he said.
Yea but body wise he could still play.
He played on the Heat as a backup when he could have started on another team...True a class act if he is done he will be missed.

Wasn't he going to retire after this season anyways??? Well if he wasn't planning on it, he should now. He's old. Now lets see Earl Barron start getting minutes.

I saw that hard fall he took.
Ouch, I hope he plays some and finishes out his career without further injury. I'd hate to see Zo go by an injury.

have some respect, this isnt just a basketball injury it has to deal w/ his life as well.

Anyways, Ive never been a big Zo fan myself, but its hard not to root for a man who overcomes a kidney transplant to play basketball....talk about love for the game. But he's a HOFer for sure and I hope he makes a full recovery and enjoys the time he can spend w/ his family...and who knows we'll probably see him as a assistant coach in a few years.

Plus when reporters asked Udonis Haslem about the injury (since he was one of the players that helped him off the court) he said this:

"I went over to help him up and he just said, 'It's over. It's over."

Hard way to go out.

Damn I didn't know that. This sucks so bad that he had to go out like this.
I'm a big fan of his he plays with so much heart and like I said he could have been a starter on another team but he wanted to stay on the Heat...He will for sure be in the HOF and will prolly coach soon.
