In a very quick and surprising twist, Bill Parcells will not being accepting an offer to become Atlanta Falcons vice president of team operations. Instead, sources say that Parcells is close to a 4-year deal with the Miami Dolphins to fill the same role.

Falcons owner Arthur Blake issued a statement on Wednesday saying that Parcells had turned down the position. Parcells was quoted earlier this morning as saying that he would "probably" take the VP job with the Falcons, however it seems Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga's decision not to sell the team changes everything. Parcells and the Dolphins had conversations about the position 2 weeks ago but uncertainty over Huizenga's thoughts of selling the franchise had put the talks on ice.

ESPN's Chris Mortenson and Len Pasquarelli have now reported that Miami team sources expect Parcells to sign a contract with Miami within the next 48 hours, and this deal is not expected to fall through. What makes the Miami Dolphins vice president of team operations job more sexy than the Atlanta Falcons is believed to be more control over the team. -AE

A lot of people I know don't quite understnd why he wants to go to a team that has a worse record this year but here's why and I fully understand his reasoning.

- Atlanta sucks and has waaaay too many QB problems.
- Miami has suffered from injuries to QB and RB, two huge positions they lost. Hopefully if they draft a good QB, many problems will be solved.
- Developing defense with Taylor, Thomas and Porter.
- Developing a WR in Ted Ginn. Trading Chambers was a horrible idea but they still got Booker and Ginn and I wouldn't be surprised if they go for a WR 2nd or 3rd round in draft.

Any more ideas to add? My ideas not good?

Both teams suck, both teams have a ton of issues at multiple positions, and both teams are rebuilding. I think Parcells is just as up for the challenge of rebuilding either team, just as he was up for rebuilding a 5-11 Dallas Cowboys team.

The Bottom Line is that he is being promised more power and the ability to make decisions concerning personnel in Miami. I think with Rich McKay as President/General Manager in Atlanta, Parcells doesn't want to conflict with his ideas as rebuilding the Falcons.

Miami has a better heritage then the Falcons does. It's like choosing the Lakers or the Clippers.. or the Yankees or the Rays

Also I heard that Miami is closer to his "other home," wherever that is. And that he has a better relationship with the people there in Miami.
