From realgm.com
An Illinois judge has tossed out a 2½-year prison sentence for former NBA player Keon Clark, saying he deserves a new hearing.

Clark, 32, of Danville, said in Vermilion County Circuit Court on Friday that he is an alcoholic and was drinking a half pint to a pint of gin daily when he was playing pro basketball.

"I never played a game sober, unfortunately," said Clark, who last played for the Utah Jazz and Phoenix Suns .

Clark said in court that he started drinking in high school and, after he was drafted in the NBA by the Orlando Magic in 1998, he drank at games during halftime.

"It just never stopped," he said.
I for one find this hilarious.

Well for not playing a game sober, he did really well some nights, I remember him getting a last second dunk for the win. Imagine what he would of done sober.

Lol. I met this guy when he played in Sacramento. At a Sports Authority. I still have his autograph on a Kings magazine.

I know kids who play Ball drunk and they think they are better drunk so who knows.
I've played buzzed before and I was a little better but I couldn't play like up and down for 10 mins let alone 48.

I know a guy who got completely $hitfaced on a half day. The same day he had a game at 5 pm. Staggard into the gym with no idea what the hell is going on. JV basketball game and the guy dropped 33 points on like the best school in our division. He had little recollection of the game.

Ya I've seen that before. Happened once at a tennis match. Our #1 singles player showed up late, high and drunk falling over.. took out the 9th best tennis player in the entire north east. Someone once told me the guy was some rusian dude who had won like 45 straight sets over a course of two years and my teammate broke that.

As a college student Im usually far from sober most of the time, but I can still function, but Ive been drinking and smoking since maybe 10th grade and Im fine, so as long as he never threw up or passed out I think its ok........at least he isnt on steroids.

Yeah some people think they do everything better when they are drunk...

My friend does better on test when he's drunk and he plays better ball too.

I for one, think I'm about the same when it comes to basketball...

Well hell, what do you think all of the players in the up until about 1970. I know for a fact players on the 63 Bears would drink and then play. Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb were drunk half of the time. It is just interesting to see a player do it now. I've only practiced drunk twice and once high. It's about the same really, performance wise, it just sucks more IMO.

It's more mental then anything. Like "Why am I here" amplified ten times more.

Conditioning does suck a bit more as well.
