Home Sweet Home
Knicks snap 8-game losing streak

"We tried to execute everything Coach (Thomas) was telling us to do," Quentin Richardson said of his strong effort. "When I am out on the court, I want to contribute to the win. Whatever it takes: rebounding, passing." Well it looks like they pulled it off with his help. The Knicks came into Saturday's game riding an 8-game losing streak and desperately needed someone to step up and take care of business. Richardson was able to lead the Knicks out of trouble by pulling in 15 rebounds.

Along with the offensive performances of Curry who put up 21, and Marbury who put up 19, the Knicks won the game on defense limiting the Chicago Bulls to a 35% shooting from the field. Stephon Marbury took control on defense limiting Ben Gordon to a mere 13 points, well below his season average. "He went out there and guarded their best player. (Gordon) has been killing us ever since I came to the Knicks. Steph took it as a personal challenge and it helped us win." Said Richardson. Along with his 19 points, Starbury also had 4 assists and 6 rebounds.

Along with their performances last night was Zach Randolph, who capitalized with 20 points on the night. The defensive performances really showed how this team is finally coming together, at least we hope they are coming together. "We have to play defense. Everybody came out here and played together collectively. That's what we have to do," Randolph said. "We just came out and played hard. We really needed this win. Like Coach said, we just have to tighten up and play defense."

Zach Randolph scored 11 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter on Saturday afternoon.

"They are a team that is very capable of going on big runs, the way they shoot the basketball," Lee said. "We were able to score a couple of times but more importantly hold them defensively." However, never forget the importance of the Bench. Renaldo Balkman led the bench in minutes, points, rebounds, steals and floor burns, as he relentlessly dove for loose balls, disrupted passes and altered Chicago's offensive surge whilst he was in the game. In 18 minutes, Balkman had six points, six rebounds, two steals and numerous tipped balls, while covering multiple positions, including point guard.
Following the game, the atmosphere of the Knicks locker room was exceptionally high as the club needed a much needed win. We all needed it," Thomas said of the victory. "We understand that the fans are here because they want to see us win. It has definitely been a long losing streak and it has been a long time the people want it and demand it." The fans were definitely behind the home team on Saturday, as the Knicks received a standing ovation at the half, when they were up by 12, and another after they won the game.
"Being a New York Knicks fan my whole life, I understand they want to see us win," Marbury said of the Garden fans. "The ovation of winning is enjoyable." Although the team was excited of their victory, it still did not change the complexity of their 8-game losing streak. The club knows it has a long way to go to recover and to have any chance of survival in the Eastern Conference. The fans were definitely behind the home team on Saturday, as the Knicks received a standing ovation at the half, when they were up by 12, and another after they won the game.
"Now we focus on Deron Williams and (Carlos) Boozer," said Crawford. "They (Utah) have some young guys but you have to stop Williams and Boozer," he said, referring to the Knicks' next game on Monday against the Utah Jazz at The Garden.

Nice article.

But the Knicks definently NEEDED a win, but the bad part is this just prolong's Isaiah's job. I'd rather lose now and get him outta here, then this nonsense continue. This is the first time I've ever felt like the Knicks were a disgrace to the NBA, but this time it has nothing to do w/ the way we're playing OR our payroll.
