Despite Joe Dumars' insistence that the Pistons have no interest in acquiring Kobe Bryant, Ric Bucher, in a short interview on ESPN's SportsCenter, suggests that Detroit actually attempted to acquire the disgruntled Lakers superstar.

Q: The Kobe trade talk are down to a whisper, but not completely silent is it?

A: No, it's not. Pistons GM Joe Dumars took offense that there was speculation that the Pistons might get into the Kobe sweepstakes. Well, multiple sources say the Pistons actually took a stab trying to get Kobe and were rebuffed because that's not one of the places Kobe would like to go
Damn I feel a little wierd knowing for 1 Dumars tried it.
And for 2 Kobe turned it down.

1270 Detroit -
According to radio station 1270 AM in Detroit, the Lakers and Pistons came to an agreement to trade Bryant to the Pistons.

However, Bryant used his no-trade clause to veto the trade.

The report claims the deal was completed late Tuesday night.

Detroit would have sent Tayshaun Prince, Rip Hamilton, Amir Johnson and a first round pick to the Lakers.
I love Tay and Amir I like Rip too...
But man I hope Kobe comes to his senses and Decides to go for it.

Good job, Kobe. No way in hell I'd take that trade.

Wow, good thing Kobe declined because LA was getting raped in that trade. The Chicago one was 10 times better

If you look at the LA Lakers forum on REALGM they all said they wanted it to happen.

That is stupid. You get 2 potential stars in Gordan and Deng. While with this trade you get a 1st rounder which would be a low round pick, tayshaun prince is a very good role player but no star, and Rip is good but not a star. And both don't have that star potential that Deng and Gordan have. Gordan and Deng just have a knack for scoring while Rip and Tayshaun could not score as much.

A) I agree with everything Maple said
B) It's RealGM. One of the most unreliable and worst sources for sports on the net.

I am sooo happy this didnt go through lol, IMO it we would of gotten the crappiest end possible. First of all were losing 2 of our solid core starters, Rip whos a beast and our leading scorer and Tayshaun whos also a beast lol. Then we would be losing Amir, who for his age has a LOT of potential once he gets more playing time. He will be a big time player in the future in my opinion. And for all of that we would be getting Kobe.... I think he wouldnt do good at all here. Hes on LA that has who? Odom, and Brown? Which means like he does, he has to shoot the ball all the time. If he came here he would try to do the same thing and wouldnt succeed because he would be playing with Sheed and Chauncey, 2 all stars. I just hope Joey D just pull this BS again.
