Yahoo.com - Vikings rookie running back Adrian Peterson has a torn ligament in his right knee and is out indefinitely, the team announced Monday.

The NFL's leading rusher, Peterson underwent an MRI that revealed a torn right lateral collateral ligament, Vikings coach Brad Childress said during his news conference Monday.

No timetable has been set for Peterson's return, but Childress said he would not play against the Oakland Raiders next Sunday.
Damn i wanted to see him run all over the Raiders.

Dang, that sucks. Hopefully he can still lead the league in rushing and get 2nd in MVP votes next to Reothlisberger. ;)

Haha, after he broke the rushing record against the Bolts, a bunch of my Raider fan friends were saying, "Don't worry, he'll probably double that against us."

Too bad we won't see it anymore -_-

As a Vikings' fan, I am really, really bummed about this. AP is the only hope we have at really being competitive this season. I know this is a minor tear & it should heal within a week or 2 but just watch, Childress will keep Peterson on the shelf a lot longer than that. Nothing wrong with being too cautious though, especially when our season is already down the toilet.

I traded Peterson for Jones-Drew & Fitzgerald in one of my fantasy leagues. After feeling like a moron 2 weeks ago...the guy that took Peterson from me is really the loser at this point.

I'm suprised you've held onto him this long. He was a Free Abgent in most leagues until AP went down Sunday.

My running backs to start the year were Rudi Johnson and Ronnie Brown, I'm used to getting nothing from the running back position since Johnson and Brown both went down.

The only thing that saves my team is my kickass recievers, QB, and TE >___> I start 1 RB a week >__> Wayne, Burress, Edwards, Santonio Holmes, Winslow, Favre, and McNabb.
