Which they wont.

They play the Steelers in 2 weeks. Best Defense in the league, and one of the most explosive O's behing them and the Colts.

I'm surprised that the Dolphins got as many votes considering the amount of people around here who aren't really historical sports nuts.

Two 1,000 yard rushers and the no-name defense is the winning formula in football.

Im not sure how much history you guys know, but seriously is this even a question?

First off, players nowadays are more athletic, bigger, and stronger. (Edge: Patriots)

But look at the Dolphins undefeated season, many people say it was all luck, obviously I wasnt around to give my 1st person account but from what I watched the Dolphins of '72 would be like the Eagles of today, a nice team but really stands no chance, The Patriots are probably the best offensive team of all-time, just because they went 13-0 then doesnt mean they are good nowadays.

All in all, my vote goes to the Pats.

Yea, but the 72 dolphins had a great defense and one of the best rushing teams of all-time.

and don't give me this players nowadays are faster and more athletic. Players back then were tougher, meaner, and played with more heart.

The 72 Dolphins were better compared to the rest of the league then than the Patriots are compared to the rest of the league now.

The game was much more 'rugged' & a lot less 'primadonna' in 1972 but I have to give the upper hand to the Patriots. It's not really a fair argument for either side though. On one hand, the Dolphins had the shorter season, less teams, and the same Players for a lot longer than teams do today. As far as today's Patriots, their is more depth among most teams, and the game is much more complicated with Offensive & Defensive schemes.

I am sick of hearing that @sshole Mercury Morris & the "Champange on Ice" crap every year so I wouldn't vote Dolphins even if I thought they could legitimatley beat the Pats anyways. How about this...I honestly think the Colts of 2006 were better than the 1972 Dolphins.

Huh? I'm trying to make sense out of that comment.

what do you mean dont "give me this" stuff? ITS THE TRUTH, is it not? as for being mean, I doubt that the guys now are less mean. And as for the heart comment, most players play with the same amount of heart, its just the jackasses like TO, who make you think otherwise.

So what, there are plenty of players from 1972 that would be faster then players starting in the NFL today (by position, of course.)

Nowadays it's all about money. That's what it comes down. Back then, yea money was nice, but you played because that was your life. Nowadays you have players going to jail, shooting at strip clubs, dog fighting, yadda yadda. Yes I'll admit, there are plenty of players that play with heart but not with the same meanness and toughness the players did back then. They would punch each other, Joe Greene's headslaps would knock teeth loose. There was no horse collar rules or rules protecting those fragile quarterbacks. It was football at its finest.

Hell nowadays, your not even allowed to blast someone full speed because you'll get fined and penalized. I remember watching this play where this receiver stretched up for the ball and Butkus just absolutely crushed him. Not even Jerry Rice could've held onto that pass.
