Patriots complain about crowd noise

The NFL is looking into allegations that the Indianapolis Colts piped in noise during the game Sunday between the Colts and the Patriots. The charge comes after Patriots President Jonathan Kraft became the latest NFL team executive to accuse the Colts of the distracting tactic that is against the rules.

"We're aware of it and we're looking into it," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said Monday. "It may just be the TV feed from CBS, but we're checking it out."

Observers at the game said there seemed to be a "skip" in the sound during the game Sunday, which the Patriots won 24-20. That might confirm the long-held suspicion among many people in the NFL that the Colts play loud crowd noise to help distract opponents when the other team is on offense.

"We're aware of the accusations, but there has never been anything to substantiate it," Aiello said.

Kraft approached NFL Vice President of Security Milt Ahlerich after Kraft and his parents, Patriots owners Bob and Myra Kraft, left the Patriots locker room after the game.

Kraft was angry as he told Ahlerich the league needed to look into the allegation. Ahlerich is the same person who confiscated a videotape made by the Patriots during a game against the New York Jets in Week 2 that led to the Spygate controversy.

In addition, New England quarterback Tom Brady also commented on how loud it was in the RCA Dome.

"I don't know how you measure levels of being deaf, but we couldn't hear anything out there," Brady said.

This is the latest in a string of incidents between the teams that have fueled the growing Colts-Pats rivalry. In the past, Colts General Manager Bill Polian has vehemently argued that the Patriots have bent the rules in terms of use of replay challenges and the pass interference rule.
I hope they are not serious with this.

Th fans are supposed to be loud so the other team can't hear anything, thats part of a good home crowd.

How are you supposed to call plays if you can't hear the rest of your team...and don't give me bull about how the Colts did it, because if you noticed the crowd got considerably(almost completely) silent when Manning and the Colts made their plays.

Well duh. The Colts are their team, and they know that Peyton changes the play alot. Of course you would be silent for your team and loud for the opponents. What do you really think the Colts fans should shout and cheer and be loud when the Colts are on the field trying to change a play???

They could be cheering for defense...can you honestly tell me that stadiums go completely, or even close to it, silent when their team is on offense?

Well I don't know, not most of the games I see, but can you honestly tell me that teams change their offensive play as much as the Colts?

I agree that this is a little absurd for the Patriots to say this.

But I think it's pretty stupid for people to say the Pats have no class. They NEVER say <Censored> off the field, they do there buisness, they don't buy people like the Yankees when they were dominant, they do it through there leaders who have been there and done that. People have to hate them because they win to much, because the Patriots are one of the most classiest franchises in all of sports. Running up the score my ass, it's football. You never hear them talking about the Lions running up the score when up 44-7 or other blowouts just used that as an example from this week. The whole camera thing? OK? noone cares, they still would have won that game easily it was against the rules and a terrible thing to do but if that is the only case you can use to say the Patriots have no class then your point is ridiculous. The Patriots along with the Spurs are the best dynasties of this decade, and both do it the same way. Great coach, Great clutch leader who is one of the best of all-time, and a great supporting cast.

If anything the Patriots are in the top 5 in teams among class if you can rank that.

No, but a team wouldn't be able to anyway with the amount of noise that is being made...especially if it is not all the actual crowd.

Don't get me wrong though, I really don't think it's as bad as some make out, but I do think it's something to look into because it could affect the outcome of games.
