The San Antonio Spurs announced today that they have traded guard Beno Udrih to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for a protected 2008 second round draft pick.

InsideHoops.com editor Jeff Lenchiner hears the Wolves also received cash considerations in the deal, and that they are going to waive Udrih. Strange deal. I haven't confirmed this new info as a fact yet but it came from a trusted source.

The 6-3 Udrih was selected by the Spurs in the first round of the 2004 NBA Draft, with the 28th overall pick. In three seasons in San Antonio he appeared in 207 regular season games, averaging 5.2 points and 1.8 assists in 13.0 minutes.

I kind of like this trade for the Spurs, they got Spanoulis in the off-season who can replace Udrih, and we all know the Spurs are great at finding sleepers in the draft.....

I'm just wondering what the T'Wolves are going to do...they have somewhere around 17 players on their roster, and I don't see the guys from Miami staying for long....but I just think they have a deal in the works to get to 15 or below.

They're dumping Edwards and Simien; that's what I heard...

Edwards is already gone....roster is at 17. Go to NBA.com look at their roster (and I didn't count Howard) they would have 16 with Udrih and no Simien.

Also in case you haven't noticed they released Spanoulis quite a while ago....so I don't he will come in to replace Udrih.

Dumb move for the T-Wolves. Why would they trade away a draft pick when they are trying to rebuild? Beno is decent, but they could have gotten younger/better if they had kept that pick.

True, but not as good as the Warriors are at finding great 2nd round talent. (Arenas, Ellis, and Taft would have been if his injury did not end his career) :p

Have you guys not been catching up on NBA news?? Spanoulis has been released a while back, they don't have him to come and back up anyone.
