The Philadelphia Phillies, 5.5 games back in the National League East and 2.5 games back from the wild card, continues to struggle for wins, posting a 4-6 record in its last 10 games.
If their fortunes continue to fall, the Phillies are expected to trade power-hitting right fielder Jayson Werth, who will be a free agent at season's end.
The New York Post reports that the New York Yankess and Tampa Bay Rays, teams that faced off against the Phils in the World Series the past two seasons, as well as the Boston Red Sox have expressed their interest in Werth to Philadelphia.
The Post reports that the Phillies won't be interested in taking on any salary dumps in the trade.

I wonder what the Phillies are looking for. If its prospects than I would say the Phillies are saying they cant compete this year. But obviously depends on what they want in return.

I think they're looking for a starting caliber pitcher who can play right now. Apparently they were gonna send him to New York for Vazquez after they got Lee, but they never did get Lee.

Yea, thats what I was thinking would happen if they traded Werth. But if they do, that lineup doesnt look nearly as potent as it once was. Rollins is just not the same, Utley is out, Polanco went on the DL, Howard is playing his usual way, but they need Werth in there.
