The situation has been explained in a series of tweets from Jay Glazer of FOX, who reports that it appears Cousins will get the start this week, but that it won’t be a done deal until practice starts on Wednesday.  Glazer adds that Shanahan could change his mind, if Griffin convinces Shanahan otherwise.

NFL Network had earlier reported that Cousins would start at quarterback.
Coach Mike Shanahan had said Monday that if he decided to sit Griffin this week, the quarterback also would stay on the sidelines for the remainder of the season for the last-place Redskins (3-10).

Lol, and watch Cousins look really amazing against a horrible defense.

I'd say this is a smart move because they need to showcase Cousins in these final games, since they don't mean anything and he could net something in the off-season, but that is not why Shannahan is doing it.

Does he hate RGIII?

It's pretty clear he's trying to get fired. He isn't getting another head coaching gig, and he wants that money he's owed. Doesn't get it if he quits.

What he's doing in a nutshell, don't know why the video says George Bush tho lo l

shanny never wanted to draft rg3, at least not in the deal they did. he liked tannahill and cousins in the third/forth. cousins WAS HIS guy.

he clearly wants to be fired, which is what's best anyways. but like dan said, this will help them if they want to deal cousins.

He is in a situation he doesn't want to be in. If this was about keeping RGIII healthy, he would've done this a couple weeks ago.

Cousins will probably do well in the last three games.

That isn't true at all...

Tannehill was his plan B option, and he said he would be content with him at #6 if the bidding war with Cleveland got too high.

Lucky for him the Rams decided a bidding war to maximize value was unnecessary. But they are getting a top 5 pick out of it, so not all bad

I hope Cousins goes 3-0, throws for 300 and 3 in each game, and fucking TAKES RG3's job. Let the little piss ant choke on his own ego.

I remember reading shortly after the draft Shanny had given Kirk a late 1st round grade, and he was one of the highest QB's on their board. I really have a hard time believing any of these "reports" coming out in the past month or so, such as this Tannehill one. It's pretty clear the media is going nuts with all these contradicting ridiculous stories.
